Every week day for me - I have a spreadsheet which shows all outgoings and income on a daily basis and I reconcile it to this. That way I know how much we have left and how much I can put towards the credit cards!
    Paying down the mortgage:
    At 1 October 2011: £226,000
    Currently: £224,499
    Aim: 85% LTV (£212,500)
    Paid £1,500
    Target remaining: 88.89%

At least once a day.To check everything balances and that if theres anything wrong I can pick up on it straight away.
  • I tend to look at mine once a day, sometimes twice a day if I know that something is due to go out or come in.

  • I check our bank accounts every other day, direct debits all go out at the beginning of the month, since i deal with the family finances i give us a weekly amount for shopping/petrol etc and have a note book where i keep a tally of where the money goes some weeks there is some left over and that goes into a separate pot/savings. So far this is working extremely well and we haven't touched the credit cards in months. Long may it last........

Still working on being debt free by October 2009.

Me too - started doing this 2 years ago and have not gone overdrawn since :j best thing I ever did. Because of this I have cleared about £1000 of debt (£2k still to go) and have actually been able to SAVE!:D

Mind you I only check my balance once a week, when I go to take out my 'allocated funds' for the week. As quite a few of the cashpoints in the local area have been hit by fraudsters, and I don't have internet banking, I find this works for me, I also pay for everything with cash, my card only leaves my purse to visit the bank.....;)
SMILE....they will wonder what you are up to...........;)
  • I check obsessively throughout the day, every day.

I like to make lists of what I have available, whats going out and how much I have left to spend.

I find its the only way I can keep in control of my spending but it seems to be working :)
Debts at LBM £6000 Debts now £1000
