Wow, I think I know what I need to do and thats to start checking my account. I only checked when I was refused stuff in my bank account. But I think you all have a point and thats to check. I was stumpted when my landlady didn't put in my rent cheque until a couple weeks later. So now I should check. It seems like there is a pattern, the more you check the more you realise how much (or in my case how little) you have and it may stop me from spending. But the only way I can do that is to start adopting some self control. Many thanks for the inspiration :-)0

Once there was fradulent activity on my card. My bank sorted me out with a new card and everything, but I cannot be 100% certain that I didn't pay more than I had to.
I now have a personal finance program which I use daily and reconcile with my online bank and credit card accounts 4 - 5 times a week.
This way I can check if anything has been taken out of my account without my authorisation.0 -
Another daily user here. If I check every day there is no excuse for mismanaging or overspending. It's really helped reign in my reckless habits and since I joined the Payment a Day challenge it's a great motivational tool to see my balances going down.0

Couple of times a week - best day of the month for me is the first weekend afetr payday when I sit down and mark off on my spreadsheets the payments made and score them off on my paper files too. Great seeing the outstanding balances of things coming down too. I also tick off each direct debit once paid (like a geek).Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0
