How often do you look at your bank balance?

I have a fear of looking at my bank balance even though I have online banking AND can look at it on the cash machine. I know this is one of the reasons I spend loads, How often do you all look at yours? Whenever you spend? Once a week? What do you do with this knowledge? I must sound like a dumbass not to read my bank balance.

  • When I started - never

Now - many, many times a day

ETA: you are not a dumbass, eventually you will know to the last penny what is in there and then you will be more keen to check it.

Do check it and if you see something you don't like pop back on here and we can all help you with it, but avoidance is how lots of us got here in the first place.

  • 'Bout twice a week for me...
    Debt-free...and staying that way...
  • It used to be once in a blue moon.

But knowledge is power - my account balance is not going to change just because I don't check it.

Now I check it (roughly) every other day and reconcile my accounts every week.

  • I check every day. Although I know when everything is going out, I like to check just to ensure nothing has gone out I've forgotten about, spend wise.

I used never to look at my bank balance I was too scared. Now I look at it at least every other day - and I always know roughly how much I have in it.

    once in 2-3 days nowadays.
  • Every working day for me but not weekends.
  • Every time I use my laptop, and often several times in the same day! (like when I update my spreadsheet and juggle my money)

I never used to really care - only ever looked at it at a cash machine when I'd been refused payments. Not any more!
