Ok you may not like my opinion and there may be others so here goes, your bothered about a £2 gift card, you got the 35p back what more do you want. I wouldn't bother writing a letter

Maybe the £2 would cover the time and fuel spent returning to the store.
  • "If you have been overcharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift card voucher for each product you have been mischarged for."

Wow thanks, didnt know about this! I've recently switched from Tescos to Asda for my shopping and every little helps...
  • When it happens to me it's always with an offer, I need to buy marg for eg I notice it is on offer £1.50 or 2 for £2.20 I only want one but of course I am seduced into getting 2, more times than not the offer is not applied and I pay full price. In this case have I been overcharged for 1 or 2 items ie 1 giftcard or 2?

The wording of the policy has been changed on the ASDA website.

    Was:
If you have been overcharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift card voucher for each product you have been mischarged for.
    Now:
If you have been overcharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift card voucher for each transaction.
I've called them to verify what constitutes a "transaction" and .....tbh their reply is about as clear as mud. Originally it sounded as if you had more than one misprice you'd get a £2 GC for each - in the case of a misprice affecting items in say a "3 for £2 offer" you'd recieve one GC - rather than 3.

In our case we had two of the same items, not in any promotion, and for this only one card is due......because it's one barcode - hence one transaction(!?). So what constitutes a "transaction"? - B******d if I know.

Interesting - I knew nothing of this. I'm overcharged virtually every time I go in to Asda Folkestone. Last time it was 2 packs of Ariel for £16 as per the sel, I was charged £19 odd. I realised something was wrong while still at the till, supervisor was called, she annulled the receipt and it was all rescanned. Nothing but a smile and a sorry. It was the queue behind me I felt sorry for...:o

This happens too often in my local Asda. Usually on the the two for £X offers. What upsets me is that when the supervisor corrects the till error, it never seems to be corrected on their computer. I bought mushrooms (2 for £1.50) and was incorrectly charged on thursday last week and again on Saturday. Stupid me wasn't aware of the gift card but will be asking from now on.

yesterday Asda Canterbury - reduced item charged at full price. Before I could stop myself I pointed it out to the cashier who cancelled and rescanned. Afterwards thought if I'd kept quiet and queued at customer skirmishes that £2 would've been mine ;)

I think you only get the gift card if you have to go to Customer services (ie you didn't realise till the transaction was completed) I could be wrong of course and no doubt will be corrected if so!
