From the T&C`s for the 5% reward account:

1 account per customer - if you have an existing Halifax Web Saver Reward, it must be closed before you can apply for this offer.

I opened a reward account in July paying 5.8%,this was cut to 5.3% last month.
According to the above I can`t open the 5% one unless I close the one I already have paying 5.3%.
I`m expecting my current one to be cut again on Monady or have I got it wrong?
I assumed my current one was fixed at 5.8% for a year but like I said,it was cut last month by .5% to 5.3%

    Any opinions please.

I think at this stage that a fixed 5% account is worth more than a variable 5.3% account, whether the 5.3% is cut on Monday or further into the future.

I opened the 5.8% websavers in July also. I don't remember anything about it being fixed or even it being a reward. As far as I remember it was just a chance to open new websavers at a better rate of interest.

I have just opened the websaver reward account and I did not have to close the other two that were paying 5.8%, now 5.3%.

I opened a websaver during the week but am still waiting for the money I transferred into it to arrive in the account. Today I see that the links in my online account can no longer be clicked - should I be concerned? Should I try to get to the branch tomorrow to put some cash in?

The links usually aren't activated until your opening deposit hits the account. I'd check online tomorrow morning and if your money hasn't arrived, go to the branch with some cash.

Thanks for that - I will do as you say. :)

Rereading the blurb from the Saver Reward, I see in small-print you need to decline the cash-card.

Halifax aren't making it easy

Does anyone know or are we assuming that the FR ISA will be victim to the cut as well on Monday?

The fixed rate ISA was not mentioned in yesterday`s Express but who knows.
With yet another rate cut predicted next Thursday they won`t hold it forever.
