So you're saying the fixed rate web saver needs to be funded by close of business Monday? Where did you find that out?
No. I'm saying the fixed rate Web Saver Reward (5% for a year) must be funded on Monday.

"Limited offer - open and fund an account before 1 December 2008."

This is a different account to the Fixed Rate Web Saver and offers bags more flexibility if interest rates work against you. I've stuck £50 in one just to retain it as an option for when my 7% account matures in February.

As for the fixed rate Web Savers, that 6% for 9 months looks rather tasty. I'd be gobsmacked if they're around much after tea time on Wednesday!

I hope it's still around on Wednesday morning. It looks like the perfect home for my Icesave cash. In the mean time I've snatched up the Websaver Reward before it disappears.

Can you fund this by transferring funds from another Halifax account or does it have to be outside money. If internal transfer is OK, does it show immediately?

I've just opened a reward account, but don't have online banking set up yet, so I wasn't able to fund the account - they didn't give me the option to fund it via debit card or BACS - I expect this means the rate offered will drop, as I won't be able to fund it in time for Monday :(

At the end of my application, I got a roll number, account number and sort code. Halifax accept faster payments if you are able to send one.

If you are anywhere near a Halifax or Bank of Scotland on Monday, you can take in £50 (cash/cheque), and they can credit it there. The opening deposit is allowed in branch. Just as long as you get it there by the time they close, you'll get the 5%.

That's weird, I didn't get one. Though I opened a variable rate web saver today too, and I did get one then. Hmmm.

(Clearly I'm opening too many accounts today...)

High interest current account paying in £1k a month is dropping from 5.12% to 2.5% on first £2.5k

By the time everyone's savaged their interest rates ..... Halifax will probably still be able to legitimately call the 2.5% current a/c as "High Interest" ;)
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

Does anyone know if the halifax only accept cleared funds. I now find that I have not enough money to transfer internally for an ISA before Monday. My only way is togo to the branch on 1st. (monday) and open account with HSBC cheque. But if their like my bank (HSBC) the account and rate will not become active till the cheque clears unlike Barclays who guarantee rate when you hand over cheque.
    Anyone know, please?
