Lo and behold, this morning it`s now showing as 5%

Thanks to Yorky for pointing out that the max withdrawal is £10k at a time and only four per year.
Something to bear in mind for future planning with interest rates looking to be slashed again on Thursday.

Bit off topic but I noticed today that Kent & Reliance have slahed their direct cash ISA from 5.76% to 4.26% a massive 1.5%.
Although it must be said, the first cut since 1st March 08.

Very, very hard times ahead for us poor savers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't remember saying either of the above; it was jem16 who said the max withdrawal was £10K.

If it is £10K, then that's less than my Halifax High Interest (or at least was!) current account from which I've moved £15K previously.

I stand corrected, the terms state 4 withdrawals and Jem16 said the max is £10k.

Yorky I think you are right about the £15k as I seem to remember transfering that amount a while back.
    Needs to be checked.

Looks like the BOE + 0.8% WebSaver is not really a true Reward account after all?

In the web saver terms and conditions, this account is defined as a Web Saver Reward:
The first Halifax Web Saver Reward was available from 9 July 2008 to 12 August 2008 [...] For Halifax Web Saver Rewards opened during the limited period from 9 July 2008 to 12 August 2008, the variable reward interest rate applies [...] The reward interest rate will be at least 0.80% above the Bank of England base rate.

When I opened mine yesterday, before I got to the application form it said very clearly "this is very important - make sure you do NOT choose the option with the cash card" as this would not give me the reward rate.

Still not obviously clear to me when going through this route. I don't recollect any such message before the application form.....

It was at the beginning of the actual application. But I guess it's moot now we have both gone through the application process.

Well you have got it right and I've got it wrong, I've just been told I'm getting an outrageously good 1.95% gross interest on my Halifax Saver account, all because of selecting 1 freakin option. I'm not bitter, not at all............

Be glad you can get your money out - it's not like you've bought a bond! And hopefully you won't make the same mistake again.
