Yeah, I was sceptical when he went off on the residential course, and it is a bit close to being a "life coach", but fair play really, the people on the course have probably reached the limit and being made to think differently might help.

Personally, I woudln't bother going on such a course. I could summarise effective diet methods off the top of my head.

Hope you all enjoyed the show. It was about me and my husband and, yes it is possible for anyone if you have the belief.

Sean says if anyone knows a good decorator please get in touch lol. Seriously, any recommendations appreciated :)

Thanks also to Tom Stickland for his kind comments.

confuses the hell out of me I didnt watch the show but maths tells me your going to have to work like crazy or win the lotto to pay your morgage off in 2 years. Unless your morgage is only twice your take home wage PA
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

thought it was interesting, and i'd love to have seans talent for getting his positive thinking across. personally, being a tight old miser (husbands description of me) i wouldn't pay for the course, but it's not because i don't think it would work, it's just that i'm too cautious with money to risk it. i have every faith that the course was good, been on some excellent power of positive thinking courses through my job, and it's a philosophy i always use, and has stayed with me. whatever anyone took from that course, some of it will prob always stay with them.

re. the decorating, i would have done something myself, even if only in the short term, eg, paint the walls. i know it was ahll, stairs and landing, and looked as if it needed skimming, or thick paper to cover the blemishes in the long run, but a couple of coats of cheap paint would have made it more livable.

my 12yr old son sat spellbound all the way through it, he's well on the way to becoming a cracking little (or not so!) mse'r.

to sean and ann-marie, half way there folks, - stick with it!

    xx

I enjoyed the show, and will watch the others. The only thing I found odd is there was no mention of the other things one should be doing to help pay off the mortgage early, including:

    (a) Reduce/repay more expensive debts first
    (b) Get best/lowest interest rate on your mortgage you can
    (c) Pay money saved by cutting back/extra income in mortgage instead of savings

Perhaps these will be covered in later programmes. But I would have thought some fundamental informations about how mortgages work (how the interest builds up) would have been helpful up front.

I hope you get/got to acheive your money saving goal caseya (Ann-marie + Sean).

I have just managed to pay my own mortgage off after 4 years of scrimping.

    Best wishes
    David.
  • I also enjoyed the prog, however the punitive moneysaving looked as if it would split the couple up a few times. Is it really worth it? I would have aimed for 5-10 years, suppose it would have made for a very boring programme though??

Once again thanks for your comments.
The only reason I went on the course was to add some credibility to what I already do. I have been a hypnotherapist for many years now, but by night as you saw I am a comedy stage hypnotist. Sometimes when doing both they do conflict i.e will people take my daytime stuff serious. I still need to do the comedy shows though as they pay good money.
Like my wife I do not do the slimming just for the money, if you could see the faces of these people when we have helped them it gives you such a great feeling. Unfortunately not everyone can stick to diets as well as Anne-Marie so I am giving them another option. I have lots and lots of testimonials from people as does A-M.
We are only half way through so a long hard though enjoyable year is ahead of us.
Regards the strain on our marriage, don't forget they have filmed hundreds of hours of film just to get one hour, and they have to make entertaining tv, we are not at each others throats like it was portrayed, I would go as far to say that the programme has probably cemented our relationship, as I have changed almost 100% when it comes to being sensible about my finances.
I wouldn't be human if I didn't have the odd lapse or two as i'm 40 and been a gadget man etc for nigh on 24 years.
    Kind regards
    Sean Casey-Poole

    Hi Sean

Someone on one of the BBC messageboards is complaining that the contributors to this series must have been paid for taking part. Would you be able to comment on this? No problem if you'd rather not :)

    Cheers

Another thing that was missing from the program was any mention of the income tax they would have to pay on any extra income they earned.
