I feel for your children with an attitude like that.
I don't have children. I have to go on this trip or fail my course. I also have to be there by a certain time on a certain day. Flying BA would mean paying more to fly and having to book a hotel room and it would be the same for the flight back.
I think I'll book it with a credit card and take my chances of them going bust. The safety issue as well as just general issues seem to be more for Atlantic flights than European ones.0 -
flew with them quite a lot to Spain and Canaries. Absolutely no hassle other than 1 hr delay once.
Business wise, they are pretty sound too apparently, although Id always use a CC no matter what I bought.
Even Tesco are finding it tight this year !0 -
I agree that the incident and withdrawal of the ETOPS certificate was unacceptable. A minimum equipment list is there for a reason, period, no airline is above that.
However, the CAA did many audits at Flyglobespan, and the two organisations co-operated to sort out the airline's problems. I understand a lot of heads rolled, and the company's biggest maintenance contractor is now one of the best maintenance companies in the country.
We are lucky in the UK that we have one of, if not the best aviation safety cultures in the world. If the CAA are happy to let them fly then there must be something in that. I do agree the incident was unacceptable; but the CAA got involved and wouldn't let them continue if they had found systematic problems with the company that went unresolved.0 -
Flew with them this year translantic with 3 kids 1 year, 3 years and 7 years, didnt feel at any time under threat re security and was well aware of everything that had happened prior to this. The CAA would not have given them their ETOPS licence back or would not have allowed them to fly if they were in any doubt regarding GS flight safety.
We have booked to go Translantic again with them in May 09 again with children and I do not have any hesitation with this.
The GS flight was one of the best flights we have had, very helpful crew, good meals and both flights on time. I certainly wouldnt hesitate in booking with them again and as mentioned on previous threads, YES I am Scottish!0 -
Can someone please tell me how many globespan planes have fallen from the sky due to these dodgy planes they fly and risks they take.
They will be watched like hawks now and personal experience twice to the states says they are fine.0 -

That alright then.
Fortunately the CAA got a grip before any accidents occurred.0 -
i had the pleasure of being stuck at barcelona airport for 14 hours due to them. Sat on a hot plane for an hour then trundled off with "there is a technical problem". No information in the 14 hours, one grotty sandwich then the cheek to charge for a cup of crap tea on the plane.
WOuldnt touch them with a barge pole.0 -
Everyone has both good and bad experiences with every airline with regards delays, lack of information etc. Globespan arent the only ones to be delayed or have had safety issues, almost every airline has had airline problems and possibly faults that the customers never know about0

Please follow this up, in recent times id certainly be interested to know what other British airlines have had their license revoked and been fined for safety issues?0 -
Maybe not british airlines but it does happen with other airlines:-
1. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) imposed the record fine because Southwest Airline deliberately failed to conduct mandatory safety inspections of the fuselage on some 46 aircraft.
The planes operated for nearly eight months between 2006 and 2007 - 59,791 flights in total - without meeting an FAA directive to repeatedly inspect areas of the fuselage for possible cracks.
The airline continued to fly the 46 planes for another eight days even once the airline became aware of the lapse. Six of the aircraft were later found to have fuselage fatigue cracks when they were inspected, according to the FAA.0
