Oh, I loved George Best, I wept buckets when he died. Your trip sounds great Chrisca, I would love to go to a premiership game. Make sure you enjoy every minute.
What a horrible cold day, it's been thick with fog and freezing here.
I went to the farm shop this morning and got some lovely meat, the butcher even cut the fat off for DH, before he weighed it. We got steak for our Christmas dinner, only two of us this year so we each chose our own, DH doesn't like any fat but I like a bit, it cooks better.
The butcher also makes some lamb pinwheels which are really tasty, it's minced lamb with seasoning and mint sauce rolled up like a swiss roll with puff pastry and cut into slices. You just bake them in the oven for about 30 mins. These would be a good way of stretching any kind of mince e.g pork with apple. I just buy them but I might make different ones when I have a bit of freezer space to keep the spares.
Not much else done today. Dinner will be mock pie for DH and venison stew for me. The "pie" is just a bit of leftover pastry which I baked and will plonk on top of the stew.
I have a magazine for tonight, subscription bought with Tesco deals, and some jelly beans so life is good.
Enjoy the evening.0 -
Made sausages and egg in the Remosa for brunch and then got DH to drive me to tesco.
DDs are running low on shower gel , shampoo and toothpaste so took advantage of BOGOF deals and tesco's own stuff and got loads - saved over £10!
Got veg for tomorrow and a HSM advent calender for DD(14) as well as milk and juice, so flushed with success I threw caution to the winds and treated myself to a new coat (F&F, should have been £50) for £35.
Having trailed round the shops with four DDs for a coat each I felt I deserved a new coat too!!!!
Might do sliced ham and chips for tea unless any other ideas strike me as I want a quiet time before Xfactor starts.
Hugs to everyone and well done Hester."This site is addictive!"

Hester,
Take care of yourself, you spend your life looking after other people, but you need to spend some time on you now, perhaps you need to go back and see your GP ?, any way huge hugs to you hun, take care of yourself
We were just going to get out for a walk when it started to rain, so we nipped up to Mr T to get the few bits we needed, and the cold damp weather made my chest much worse, and I kept coughing up muck (sorry if tmi ), so I had a chat with the pharmisast (sp) who gave me some jollop, which works wonders. Any hoo OH took little dog out, and I decided to attack the mould which has been growing on dd's window, I dont understand how cos her little top window is open all day, any way got it all cleaned up with bleach, but had to buy a new blind as hers was covered in mould  , I ended up cleaning all of the upstairs windows, they look as good as new now, I would not mind but the windows have only been in three years  , will attack the downstairs ones next week, that makes me sound like a slovenly woman, but I do clean honest.
Any way off to do dinner now, left over chinese for OH and I, pasta bake for dd and friends, who are sleeping over.
Have good evenings all xx0 -

Oh another Man U fan here also. Lucky you getting to see a live game chrisca. I too get really hot under the collar when they are playing on the tele. I blame my dad who took me to Old Trafford in 1971 for my birthday, I too saw Georgie Best (my boyfriend) as he was known when I was a ten year old lol:rotfl: Anyway have a wonderful time wish it was me. I managed to convert all 3 children to MU even though DH is a fan of the dreaded Pool.
Just noticed also Ive got my first star on the board hooray:beer: Anyway despite BM playing up today piza dough is rising nicely by the fire, and all the washing dried on the line and now on the maiden, so at least that is an OS result for today. My house has been invaded by 12/13 year olds -- tis my eldest dds 13th birthday today....she's got a few friends over for a "pizza/movie" evening and one staying the night....they're all being very good.....so far.
Been a stressfull day with ex and his family trying to upset everyone - why is it that we hear nothing from them from one year to the next but they always like to stick the knife in on birthdays....grrrrrrrrr
On a happier note DH treated me to the most gorgeous metal reindeer ornament thing - he's just stunning and was only £5. Money is really tight this year and we've agreed no pressies for xmas between us - but we both saw this and loved it.....Felt nice to treat ourselves knowing that it wasn't a thoughtless/worthless purchase....he'll be enjoyed for years to come...actually I don't think he'll get put away as he'll sit on the fireplace.
I made some salt dough xmas decs this week, going to be making hampers of home made bits and bobs for parents and inlaws - have done well so far and spent the grand sum of £3.65 - the rest is stuff I've/we've made or recycled....amazing what you can do when you need to.
DD's birthday cake was a bit of a disaster (new silicon moulds from the £1 shop) so I've turned it into "when teddy bears go bad" and iced it and made it look evil....she was very impressed :j
Tomorrows dinner will be soup of some discription....there's a vat of it in the fridge....but I didn't label it so who knows what delights are instore.
Hope you all have a great weekend."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Hello everyone,
I went to Somerfield today as I couldn't face Asda with a 4 year old. The large chickens were half price. I'm not sure if they were genuinely £9 previously, but the one I bought for £4.50 was cooked this afternoon, and it made 10 me-sized portions. I had a roast chicken dinner this evening. I will be having the same tomorrow eveing too, yum yum.
I made Christmas cards with ds and the children from down the road today. I only had 20 cards, so there was a limit to how many each child made, and they had to think a bit about who they were sending them to. The girls were writing theirs out as they made them, and when I was matching them to the envelopes, one really made me laugh. This is what it said
To [strike]Ale[/strike] Ella with love from .........
I hope the amended recipient isn't too offended when she receives it :rotfl:
Take care all of you0
