My darling father is not coming to stay after all - he is poorly.
So is little bear.
Dear heart was out all night in a hotel.I didn't get anything done last night. Even when I tried to knit evil cat came and sat on my north face.
So, today I am going to clear out the kitchen. It needs a good clean, actually it needs a very good clean, but I would like to clear it out as well. I also feel like attacking the sink hole that is known as dear heart's bedroom. Most of all - I am going to vacuum. Little bear gets really upset so I have been furtling round with sweepers and brushes, but it needs suction! And dear heart will be here to comfort little bear. If he has a hangover, I am sure that a few paracetamol will sort it out.
Tonight dinner would have been boston baked beans if I had remembered to soak the darn beans. We are looking at a stir fry now.
Aussie - my mother always made us wait until Christmas Eve to put up the decorations, then she insisted we make most of them - we were shattered by bed time and went to sleep really easily. I intend following her example!
I also missed about pickled bums, and am somewhat concerned.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

First of all, thanks for all the kind wishes for Ruby yesterday, it made her day, you are all very kind :A .
Woken up full of cold, I dont feel bad, I think I had the bad bit earlier in the week, but I am full of coughs, and sneezes  .
Well tonight we have two of dd's friends sleeping over to celebrate her birthday, one of them is allergic to peanuts, and I am terrified I am going to give her something with nuts in, I am making pasta bake with salad and garlic bread, and have checked and checked all the ingredents, I wonder how her poor mum copes, she must be terrified of her staying anywhere, she also cant have cheese, so i will do her an individual pasta bake with no cheese.
Aussie, let me know how the toffee vodka goes, I am going to have a go at, jelly bean and skittles vodka, which is apparantly delish.

Diva well done on the review:T We dont put our dec's up early either, unless our DGD's are coming up, then everything is trimmed up, it looks like a grotto in our loungeroom then, and they love it.Most of it comes down when they have gone though, it drives OH mad all the flashing lights and twinkly bits:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
N9eav great isnt it when they pass, no more spends:T mine passed last week as well
Post has just come, we have had a bill from severn trent, they have put our D/D down to £5 per month until OCT 09. We were in credit of £200 when we changed over to a water meter in August(I think it was)
They asked if we wanted it refunded, but we decided not to as we would have had to set up another D/D anyway, and it would have been for more than £5.
OH worked it out and reckons we will be paying around £250 a year, we used to pay £350+ so thats a saving of £100 a year :T
Hope all the poorlys are feeling better today (((hugs))) for all in need x
going out at 10 so better go, back later
Anne

Morning all, cold damp, freezing fog & frost here this morning. In work today so not much in the way of osing today. Our local supermarket closes today for five days for a refurb, so a lot of produce is being reduced, planning on going in an hour before closing to see whats left.
Phonecall of my brother last night, re Christmas presents, he doesn't think its worth buying presents for the adults this year, just the kids and did we agree? Fine by us, we've bought for the kids already. i think the credit crunch is hitting their lifestyle hard.
Theres a roast chicken & cranberry jelly sandwich waiting for me at lunchtime and chilli and rice for tea.
The shopping list for the week only has five items on it, which makes a big change. Meal planning & batch cooking are starting to show there worth. I wll buy more than five items though, due to the afore mentioned supermarket shutting and the fact that wwe are attending a farmers market tomorrow. I've heard a lot of good things about the farmer selling the meat, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to over.0 -
Aussie, let me know how the toffee vodka goes, I am going to have a go at, jelly bean and skittles vodka, which is apparantly delish.
WellI'm not keen on vodka but I love toffee's. We had a shot and both of us weren't that keen on neat alcohol. Tried it with soda water & I thought it was OK, DD said No. I tried it with lemonade but found it too sweet.
So back to the drawing board. We'll keep tying.
It smells divine though.
HTH. :rolleyes:Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning folks,
Today is Buy Nothing Day
Unfortunately, I will not be participating. I have an eye test later.
Other plans for today include washing, weetabix brownies....
The waste pipe has come off from underneath my kitchen sink so that needs fixing. Can't use it at the moment.
Going to pop into Focus as well as there is 60% off Xmas decs there.
Anyway, the good news....

MY BED IS ARRIVING THE WEEK AFTER NEXT!!!!!
It wasn't supposed to arrive until the 10th Janbut they rang last night and said it has arrived early so it will now be arriving the week of the 8th! Yay, bed for Christmas!!
Other than all of that, the day will just be spent pottering, tidying up etc
Have a good one :beer:We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
Sorry for being MIA AGAIN! I don't mean to be. I hope that everyone is well. Please let me know if I've missed anything recently.
School is frantic with the run up to Christmas. We've got our nativity performances next week. The head has been at the school for 17 years and the nativity has remained unchanged for ....................... 17 years!!! Despite all efforts of people thinking of other ideas we get batted away with "It's what the parents expect!" What do they do at your children's schools?
It's my mum's operation on Monday. She's (obviously!) quite apprehensive about it all. I've been able to get half a day off on Monday from school, so I'm heading up there to make sure she's ok. The op is actually in the maternity wing, where she had both my brother and I, so dreaded memories will probably come flooding back to her.
Today DH and I are heading to London for my friend's 30th birthday party. We don't know any of her other friends, but I'm sure that once the alcohol gets flowing we'll soon be chatting away. I hope........... We're staying at her flat over night, so free accommodation. I've also managed to get the cheapest possible tickets for the train, so we'll have time to wander tomorrow before heading back home to "reality"!
Anyway, I hope that you all have a good day.

Morning all,
Not been on this board for a while, found the Flylady thread and sorted out so much stuff thanks to you all on there, then I kinda let it slip! Now I'm in a pickle, got paid yesterday, paid a few bills and got £72 left till next pay day, I've not even paid all my bills yet but can't pay anymore otherwise we won't be eating
I need to get into this board again and start myself a challenge to last the month....looks like it'll be a bleak xmas unless I come up with something pretty special!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Morning all, BRRRR IT'S FREEZING HERE!!!
Just been to the post office to get my car taxed, and am now in bed with the lappy and a cuppa planning my social diary for today, bear in mind I have a massive cold n sore throat, and have Mum and DD to please:rolleyes: I think we will go and look for pink baby stuff in Matalan;)
OS wise I might brave the breadmaker later, I can't even be bothered reading the instructions at the mo, but will get motivated[STRIKE]honest[/STRIKE]
Tonight it's Strictly and X Factor and then an earlyish night I think:o
Have great Saturdays everyone:A"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
