  • Hmm tricky one for me this month...as redundancy is looming I need to make sure we're being as frugal as possible. However I'm off to look after Dad from this week as he's had his hip replacement replaced so needs care for the next four weeks or so. I'll be feeding the two of us plus baking to feed the hoards that visit (at least I'm baking again so not buying cakes!). DH will be at home from now until Christmas so there needs to be food in both places plus I need to allow for Christmas food etc.

I think I'll go for £300 for December and see how we go.

  • I think I may have under estimated our budget for December at £120 but I am going to stick with it to give me something to aim for. I am quite pleased with the £20 we have spent so far as it did include fish and chips one night:o

There is plenty of stuff in the freeezer and about 6 HM meals frozen. I would prepare more but cant fit anything else in! The cupboards are still groaning from the big shop I did on the 19th.

Just need milk, yeast, fruit and black treacle today so should not spend too much. Fingers crossed!

Have a nice weekend everyone x

Quick question....We are a family of two adults and two children. I have near empty cupboards and freezer. Do you think that £100 a week is suitable? This will include nappies etc

    Many thanks

    MM

Aim for it and see how you go.

As a family of 5, our budget is £250 but I do lots of batch cooking, hm pizza, hm rolls, packed lunches, stardrops etc etc..... (and I have been at this for over a year)
  • Hi All

Joining in again at £180 for December - thanks to all who run the thread, it has helped me soooooooooooooo much!

Am going to try and just buy the bare minimum this month - have got extra Christmas stuff sorted already (from seperate money!) From January I will be trying a monthly shop by internet (Mr T) and then just picking up fresh stuff. Where can I find codes for free delivery that people mention??

    Thanks guys

  • Hi MrsM please put my budget at £230 for December added extra £50 for extras. Broke into Decembers budget today and spent £5.97. That should be all that I need for this week. Having curry tonight just pulled some broken nan bread from the freezer. Had a date of Dec 06 on it. Must start using up things in the freezer especially as i need space for the turkey. Good luck everyone.

    Hi

Can I carry on with my £40 per week please
I've now got loads towards my Xmas stuff and now just need my turkey (ordered) and the fresh stuff that I can't get until Xmas week so I'm going to try to manage on as little as possible and put the rest away to pay for this.

    Good luck everyone

  • CoolMum66-Look for Discounts, Vouchers thread for the tesco delivery code..I'm sure I've seen them there.
nykmedia-What a great outcome for your annual total. We might try that next year. £1 a day sounds great.
Will update signature in a mo.
    Good luck for December everyone.

  • Can I be down for £120 please? This will be my first month, exciting!

I've been doing £30 a week lately - that's just for me and OH, I know it's quite alot for two people but we spent quite a bit more until a few weeks ago! I'll try and reduce it a bit more after christmas.

We're going away with OH's parents for a week after christmas so wont have to get much/anything that week as they'll be feeding us, but I have xmas pressies to buy so that weeks budget can hopefully pay for everything I need for that. I want to make some nice jars of stuff to give to the family.
