Ooough...my form was white (with a pre-paid envelope). It had the details filled in for me following the phone conversation i had with the guy on the other end.

Thanks Dan, though in regard to FD, a lot of people i know seriously think they smell bad and have gotten 'grief' with them. But that's just their experience. Also, their interest rate drops to 0.1% if you don't keep the balance up.

yeah.. mine was all prefilled in. .I guess the different colours are some kinda of co-ordination for something there end!!

Update:

Just found out i need to call First Direct on a special line to activate the account, which takes 10-15 minutes.

The # is an expensive 0845 number! The b**tards!

Went to https://www.Saynoto0870.com to find a cheaper equivilant. No luck. However, the HSBC guy on the phone said to try calling the switch board (0800 520420) and ask for a tranfer to the Call Centre.

Will keep you updated.

Edit: It doesn't work. Guess im gonna have to submit and call 0845 100 195....

Super Update:

Okay, called 0845 #...the whole process takes 4 minutes so that was a result.

Total time spent so far on this, (incl. posting on forum)- 1 hour.

extra info: The package and paperwork they send through to you encourages you to switch all your banking services to them. Ignore it. Get the money = run!

yes.. I activated mine today too!!!

Did you get any clarfication on the free £25, I was told as soon as you credit £100 (I think if only for a day) you'll get the £25 within 28 days.

Yeah, i asked about the 25 quid, they told me the same. I think you might have to have the 100 nicker in there for 28 days (i believe this is how the promotion worked last year), so i'll probably do that- unless of course the money appear straight away!

I may be a bit thick here, but does anyone know how to close the account afterwards? I can't find it in any of the paperwork.
