I only come on MSE when a story breaks about house prices like todays nationwide figures. I cannot believe the same old people are still going on about the same old things. Still waiting for the massive crash, telling everybody about the size of their deposits, saving thousands each month as house prices lose thousands each month. Come on people, I know it must be murder renting, but live a little.

Pssstt, Andy, pick up a newspaper or turn on the TV mate. ;)

Only make sure you're sitting down. (Bought in 2008 you say?)

Oh, and I own, before you try and label me as wanting and waiting for prices to drop, it doesn't affect me either way. However I'm also a realist. Only one way this is going...

    I brought 2008 30% off, 30% deposit.
Looks like a master stroke now as I am paying my mortgage off at stupid speed.

Why is it bad to buy in 2008?

PS IO Mortgage payment is 60% lower than i could rent the property at.

Again I find myself agreeing:eek:, it's not when you buy, it's how good a deal you get when you do, taking account of market conditions.

look through the house price forum. 2000 jobs lost here etc etc. people genuinely on the house price forum take glee in other peoples misfortunes. Now I am not a troll, bull or bear, i think i may have been born in the year of the dragon though. It could have been worse for me I almost bought a house for over £400000, but because of the house prices falling i got quite a good deal (so far) onan easily affordable less than 3 x salary, Prices falling for me wouldn't be a bad thing as i hope to one day move up, but it doesn't control my life

andy, i dont think that's true i don't think its glee at an individual losing their job. On the board everyone has a view/opinion and to make their view stronger or seem more likely to happen job losses WILL mean house price falls. House prices falling is GOOD for the economy as when they go down more people will try to buy and that gets everything moving again.

There will be casualties, all you can do is prepare for the worst, hope for the best. Everyones agenda & circumstance is different, we're all individuals and what we want as individuals won't be good for everyone.

    Stick with me kid.:D
    I am not a bear or a bull just a !!!!!!.;)

I know a house is somthing you live in but the buying of it should be done without emotion.

If you are happy you can cover a future loss their is nothing stoping anyone buying.(well except a motgage:))

If you belive 70% try to buy now at 70% off you can only be knocked back.

If you make a decision be it wrong or right have the conviction to take the blame or praise yourself.

If you don't you will either end up regretting or blaiming somone else for the rest of your life.;)

But by all means it is what you are comftable with. If you think it the wrong time to buy its the wrong time to buy.

I have a little one (son before I get any jokes:D ) so I did not want the hassle of renting so I had to make sure I got a good deal but it was very close.
(I was going to sign a rental agrement on the monday after selling our house, got the call that sealed the puchase of our current hosue on the Saturday)

Things like employment figures are very relevant to house prices. Why would you expect them not to be discussed?

As to the rest, well then I can see why you'd be a little bitter so understand where you're coming from.

But all I can say is, if you don't wish to read about how much house prices are dropping, and the cause and effect, then you're probably in the wrong place..

:rotfl: :rotfl: i am not bitter. whenever some people in here read you are a recent homeowner, they instantly assume you are a moron. What some dont realise is that not everyone lifes can be ruled by house prices. We cant all put our lifes on hold untill 2011 plus
