But it now comes under a new name.
I have just discovered payments from my account, set up as a Direct Debit to 'Paypal Payments' to be taken quarterly.
I buy a lot through Paypal so used to seeing them in my statements, but always just as 'Paypal' not 'Paypal Payment'.
It was for an odd amount of £20.89
Looking back they have taken a previous 2 payments of small amount £1.06 etc that I had missed.
I signed into Paypal, and there are NO matching transactions. I have my Paypal set up to take payments from my Paypal account first, and any remaining from my debit card. My bank account details are on there - but classed as unconfirmed so should never be taken.
I have trawled through past payments in Paypal and if any payments were split, they were split between my remaining paypal balance and my debit card. NOT my bank account and none of the transaction amounts matched.
I rang up the bank and she confirmed the direct debit was set up in Jun 2019 (I had not set it up) I have had my Paypal account for YEARS.
The money was going to a MAUREEN WHITMARSH with number: 01202343491 in Bournemouth
I typed this phone number into google as I was on the phone and up popped a few forums all claiming that they too had direct debits set up, taking sometimes in total of £1600 over a few years because they hadn't noticed. It brought me to this forum too, but in the past it must have come up as 'JPMC' and now they use 'Paypal Payment' The bank are going to attempt to reverse it. Because there are no transactions that match with Paypal whatsoever.
Did anyone get to the bottom of it?!

I am going through this as I type! Bank told me it’s legit as it’s through PayPal despite me saying that it does not show on PayPal transactions! They have now took it to a formal complaint department of the bank.i am not letting this go as they have taken over £1600 from my account over many months. It’s happening to too many people and needs to stop!0

I have had money taken from my bank account. The recipient was JP Morgan Bournmouth. They work with Paypal. The ID number they use is 5TU22222V5AHC. However Paypal claim they do not recognise this number. Does anyone recognise this number? My Bank has informed me it is a Direct Debit set up by Paypal in 2008. On my Bank statement it states Paypal Intl and just the ID: 5TU22222V5AHC. Nothing else. I use Paypal a lot and all my other Paypal transactions are correctly listed on my account statement I also receive an email from them when I have used their service. However I don't receive an email from Paypal for ID 5TU22222V5AHC nor does it appear on any of my PayPal statements. My Bank says I cannot cancel this DD with PayPal because it is for payments taken from my Account and not from my debit card. But I wish they would include the Retailer/Sellers name I supposedly bought items from. The sums taken from my bank account varies the last one was £225, but I haven't got a clue who its for? I only know the money was received by JP Morgan Bournmouth.0

Yes a direct debit was set up not by me but by JPMC RE PayPal INTK LTD.This is wrong this is a scam.I have never set up any direct debit on PayPal, I have never sold anything on eBay.I have t bought anything in the US either for a while.contacted my bank and they blocked them.I can’t see that it is anything other than a scam.

JPMC RE PayPal INTK LTD is Morgan Chase. It is the setting on your Paypal account that triggers completion of a Paypal payment from your registered bank account if there isn't enough money in your Paypal account.
