hi im sorry for all the staff also , but can i ask all your advice about something, i had around 10 kiddies pressies to buy this year and not being able to afford a lot i thought i would buy woolworths vouchers for christmas presents in the hope that after christmas they would be able to prehaps get a lot more in the sales, now im woundering if they will be worthless??? thanks in advance:confused:

There's a very good chance they will be worthless, yes. Especially if you wait until December 25 to give them. Either use them, yourself, to buy what presents you can, or give them their vouchers ASAP so that they can.

    Very sympathetic. NOT!
Just remember when the vultures are circling for bargains, the staff face a very uncertain future and one day they may be circling you for bargains too.

I'm sympathetic for anyone who losses their job and I do feel bad about all the staff losing their job especially at Christmas and also feel bad about Woolworths shutting down as I have been going in there reguarly my entire life but it doesn't mean I'm going to not buy any bargains if I see them out of respect for the staff just to let other people buy them instead.
  • If customers stop shopping in Woolworths because they are reducing stock as they are closing wont that mean that the store will have no customers and wont sell off their stock so will lose more money and will close even sooner?
  • Hi

I ordered a couple of DVDs from Woolworths online and while it says one has been dispatched, the other isn't likely to be until next week. What's worrying me though is that their website is currently down so no link to customer services or my account to find out what's going on and only an 0870 no to call if I get desperate, not guaranteeing anyone will be there!

    Anyone else having this prob?

I agree with what you say. Some peole have got my post wrong, it was aimed at one poster. My point was aimed at the poster of post four for giving a couldnt give a damn about the staff type response.
Of course, get your bargains, but respect the situation and not post remarks like those mentioned.
I know most of you wouldnt show disrespect but that post annoyed me. I was not looking to divide people, just ask to show respect to the staff that may post on here.

i went in this morning, with my 20% off voucher. got quite a few presents for both dd and ds, and my dad, uncle and nan.

lots of things were marked up, for example... at £10, then had an £8 sticker on, but the shelf edge label said £6. then tae the 20% off and it takes you to £4.80.

almost everything had been cut in price. plus the 3 for 2 was still on.

    i got...

    * a twinpack of "paint your own" disney princess figurines (paint and brushes included)
    * 2 x 'paint your own' mugs (paint & brushes included)
    * heavy stone pestle and mortar
    * magnetic spice rack with 4 spice pots
    * 4 cheese knives on a magnetic wooden block
    * 'wally the whale' childrens game
    * childs music set which consists of - drum, drumsticks, maracas, tambourine & castinets
    * beautiful rose mug with matching coaster and tray
    * 2 x 'paint your own' breakfast sets - mug, plate, bowl and egg cup

it all came to £23.19 :) it's definitely worth going.

i, like most people, feel absolutely dreadful for all the staff. but i'm on a very strict budget, so if i see a bargain i'm going to buy it! i just pray that these poor people don't lose their jobs before christmas :(

Have you called your credit card issuer to see what options you have? Perhaps you can cancel the order.

Apparently stock is being picked up from suppliers at the main distribution centre, i guess they are not getting more stock in anymore only whats left thats paid for.

I was wondering about that... if they're in administration, then they're not going to be restocking beyond what they've already paid for.
