any woolworths sales?

I used the 20% voucher last night and got told to keep hold of it as it can be used up until sunday 30th.
I bought a vax 6131 three in one carpet cleaner reduced from £99 to £40 and then down to £32 with the voucher.
It seems to get good reviews.
Hope everything works out well for the staff.0 -
It's a real shame for Woolies staff but I certainly won't be buying any Christmas presents from them now (except sweets/chocolates perhaps) as any faulty items may not be able to be replaced/returned easily after Christmas if they are closed down!
Even if they did have sale discounts they'd effectively be no more reliable than one of those cheapo shops that only opens up the month before Christmas!
Mind you, I can't remember the last time their prices could match the supermarkets (e.g. for video games/CDs/DVDs), so maybe the writing has been on the wall for some time.Toffeeblock0 -
Very sympathetic. NOT!
Just remember when the vultures are circling for bargains, the staff face a very uncertain future and one day they may be circling you for bargains too.
Why wouldn't you be sympathetic that someone is unsure about their job? Is it because, as an employee in retail, you perceive her as the enemy or something?:beer:0 -

Surely if you kept the receipt you'd be able to go back to the maker of the toy? I know when I bought DD leapster from amazon, I had to go back to lapfrog, not amazon, and leapfrog didnt even want the receipt either they were quite happy to fix it.0 -

I think we need to remember a lot of the people searching for bargains may be facing a job loss, or dealing with one already tbh!
I want to keep my costs down as far as possible because we, like most other people, are unsure about the future. Nothing wrong with that, and I can assure you I have the utmost sympathy for everyone else in the same boat, including woolworths staff! I do not consider myself a vulture for wondering if Woolworths will reduce items before they close, and I don't think anyone else should either.
Funny how things like this can start dividing people who otherwise share a passion for moneysaving, isn't it?0 -
In my local Woolies I found some £1 and £2 bargains for stocking fillers.. these included a Dr Who Dalek Hybrid which was normally £17 and some Batman stuff which was normally £11.. I also got the buy 3 toys get one free deal and the 20% off.. so it's worth looking at the prices of last seasons tv figures as they seem to be getting rid of them at next to nothing, but no advertising. Good luck I hope you are as lucky as i've been.....0

Re: returns.
Your contract is in fact with the store - not the supplier. Though many suppliers will generally honour a sale themselves they are under no obligation to do so, also you'd have to return the item at your own cost and hassle. If this was a gift to a relative somewhere else in the country this would be even more of a pain.
Personally, I'd rather use ToysRUs for more expensive kids toys etc. who are on my (and many other relatives) doorsteps and will probably still be so in January. Even more so for electricals.
For small items, Woolies is still fine I think - and if any sale prices shifts stock and helps with their cash flow, then that'd be great too. Fingers crossed they can remain in business somehow next year - but I think big changes are obviously needed. I don't think big town centre stores can survive on pick-and-mix alone unfortunately.Toffeeblock0
