PC, Poor performance when backing up

I get what everyone is saying about more ram but why after running fine for years should it suddenly start grinding to a halt?

You might also try Ad-Aware and SuperAntiSpyware, just to be thorough.

What kind of 'threats' were they? Just cookies and suchlike, or proper nasties?

Could be service pack 3 is partially to blame. At the end of the day, with all the threats there are out there these days, you cant expect a computer to run the same as when you bought it as when its laden with all the security features that are required in this day and age (And things will probably only get worse)

Done all the scans etc. PC is still dragging it's feet.........

Time for some more memory or a clean install I think. Look on the bright side, at least I know what I want for Christmas!
