Mobile phones give a trace and therefore the police can legally request access to all the numbers the person has called, where they were when they made the call. They can get information regarding the IMEI number of the phone in the UK, and have the phone barred.

And if the police can work out who it was that made the call, then it is a criminal offence.

In theory if the phone is left on the police could put a live trace on the phone, find the area where it is, get close enough to call the number and then apprehend the individual.

Of course they probably just won't be bothered.

Meanwhile ask to speak to a manager at t-mobile, they should deal with it, and complain to Ofcom if they won't.

Most people can't be bothered with the hassle it takes to get anything done, but if you persist you can normally get results.

yes it is possible to do much very unlikely for a few nuisance calls which may have been sent by mistake, unless the texts directly referred to the person owning the mobile

I had this once from a guy I'd never met but had emailed from a dating website. Long story short, he was a nutter, kept sending me abusive texts. I reported it to the police but had to really fight to get them to do anything, in the end they did, and they cautioned him.

You can get something done but the police won;t want to be bothered.
