having bank account in my single name

I have been married for 6 years but still hold 1 current bank account in my maiden name,basically because I couldnt be bothered to take proof to them that I had got married, the question that I would like to ask is is this illegal or is it still ok to do this.

Yes it's okay to have an account in your maiden name. I have one in MY maiden name.

It is perfectly legitimate to have an account in your maiden name but of course you can't pay cheques into it that are in your married name.
