Job Interview with DWP

Well ... I've had some good news at least. DWP say I should be getting my letter re: 60370 in the next couple of days. Hopefully it's a positive outcome, because 60369 is dragging on.
They're doing more interviews for 60369 on the 15th, 16th and 17th September. 2 full months after the first round of interviews in July. Manpower claims they don't have any info from DWP with regards my interview yet (which DWP assure me they've sent info to Manpower for), and basically said that if I don't get a call from them before the 15th it will be because the DWP lied to me. Um, what? This after they told me earlier today that they had records that I'd already done a 60369 interview in July; that was actually my 60370 interview.
Unbelievable but, unfortunately going on the rest of this thread, doesn't surprise me one bit
Also found out today, after I telephoned for an update, that just because you have a successful letter without mention of a waiting list, does not mean you are not on the waiting list at all !!!
Got another interview tomorrow with them, and then I think it is time to move on0 -

That's a bit rubbish
And they wouldn't tell you where you were on the list, if you are at all? So do they do the checks as normal first then?0 -

Yep, looks that way.
They are still waiting for my checks to come through, but I know there are some who applied for this IRC already have theirs back.
He said that he did not know how long it would take before I heard anything, as he did not know whether they were recruiting based on postcodes !
Not going to get worked up about it any more. I've seen the new staff they have recruited in my local JCP, and it beggars belief really !!
Think I will stick to what I am used to, and just hope that the property market picks up pretty soon so I can get back to my comfort zone0 -

I only found out about this the other day too. The successful letter I received had no mention of a waiting list, after taking advice from the 'waiting list' veterans on here, I rung them and found out I was in position 45 out of a possible 150.
Good luck with your interview tomorrow Jess.0 -

Thanks DJ;)
It will be my last one for DWP. Its hard enough at the moment, without all the crap of waiting, then waiting lists, and then its only temporary. I obviously do not give them the answers they want to hear, and can't make stuff up cos I would end up in a stress !!
At the end of the day, I have worked in the legal field for decades and my lineof thinking obviously isn't DWP's
Thanks again anyway

I know in the Brighton area they're looking to fill a *lot* of jobs (I've heard 50+), so I would not be surprised if your 45 on the merit list is good enough for a guaranteed offer once checks are done. Depends on how many they're looking for in your area.
My partner has received two letters for DWP jobs in the last month or so. One is a waiting list, one is a success (no wait list mention). We've done a lot of calling around, because my own apps have been bungled, and we know she's top 5 in the merit list for the one she got a success letter for. They haven't made any offers yet, but she's been told she's guaranteed an offer once the local office sorts themselves out.0 -
I must admit I'm starting to get rather discouraged with all the crap that's been going on. I feel like I'll never get a decent job and I might as well stop hoping at all. I just wish they'd be honest with me and say no news for a month or so... All this checking my phone 50 times a day for no new messages is getting me down rather badly0

Being on the internet at 2:30 am won't help either.
I know it's a nightmare (I'm sat here waiting myself and so is my wife) but there's nothing else we can do, unless we look for other jobs.0 -
So let me understand this correctly:
If you get a Job offer you go on a merit list as oppsosed to a waiting list?
So if I am 50 on the list the 49 peeps are better then me? Accordingly If somewhere is hiring for 49 people they will pick the 49 'better' people?
Does this mean I stay ranked at 50 for ever? and if so if somewhere is hiring 50 people would I get the job based upon that fact. This seems a tad counter intuitive, as in, if an individual is not good enough for place A then surely they are not good enough for place B?
what sort of meritocracy is this?0 -

None of it makes sense to me at all ! In the process of giving up with DWP altogether. When I rang them about my pre recruitment checks, they said that they did not know how long it would be before I had an offer, as they did not know if the offers were going out on merit, or by postcode !!!
Leaving them to it - its obviously keeping some people in a job !0
