Maybe she thought if she has difficulty keeping up, just sitting feet away, how has anyone got a chance on the end of a `phone. Had not even crossed my mind. Many thanks -
Funny you should say that. I had an interview in Luton recently and one of the women taking notes said that she couldn't keep up when I was answering. I didn't think I was speaking too quickly but I apologised anyway and she said not to worry, as it was her dictation skills that were the issue and not me!
I thought the interview went well but I got a letter saying I was unsuccessful. I did go into a lot of detail with my answers to try and cover all areas but, in hindsight, I probably said a bit too much. And with so many people going for 18 positions it was always going to be a big ask.0 -
When I had my interview with the DWP I informed the two people interviewing me that, as I am very enthusiastic about my work, I might become over-enthusiastic and start speaking too quickly for the interviewer taking notes. If that was the case I asked the interviewer to inform me and I would slow down to ensure that nothing was missed.
I don't know if it helped but I wasn't asked to slow down however was successful at the interview0 -
hi
if its a large recruitment - do you get the choice of job/location you asked for. Or do they offer you one post, if you cant take due to lets say travel do they offer you another one or do you just get turned down.

I have to go for the tests and a posible interview on Monday. Just been looking at the stuff they sent, already had to ring up cause health forms were missing, now i have read that I need to take ID.
What will I need?
Thanks0 -
Passport and driving licence. I took loads like utilities bill, wage slip etc but they said that those two cover everything. Is there not a sheet with acceptable ID on it?0

I put on my form that I have dyspraxia and mild depression, as I get very low in the winter and knew I may have to work flexi around therapy sessions...
I am a capable person, who has worked since I was 16 and only had around 5 sick days in the past year, two ofwhich were stress related (around 2 the year before, for a chest infection). I was a very active student, held down two jobs, got a good degree, ran a society and was involved with both volunteering and the students' union.
I was told by their private healthcare that I had to come to a consulation about my dyspraxia, but the person I saw said it was actually about my depression (why tell me otherwise) and grilled me about my mental health history.
I was in hospital when I was 17 for around 4-6 months with depression, but I manage it very well these days and have done for around 3 years. I am now told my case is too "complex" and I have to be referred on...
So after 4 months of waiting, I may not get the job because despite my work history saying otherwise, I apparently may find an admin job oo stressful, or be unable to do it.
I have to see an occupational type person (whenever they contact me) to see this... I feel quite disciminated against and not listened to... Like I was told and not listened to about things I know from experience I can do.
Has anybody been referred to a second consultation through the medical group that work for DWP? Will I now be turned down because of being in hospital 8 years ago and having to have councilling? Or is this just to let them know if I need time off or adjustments?
Thanks.0 -
No sheet with id on, half of styff was missing, had to ring up and they emailed it on to me.0

perhaps you should try to be a bit more positive! have you thought that they reffered you to a second person who understands more about your issues?! so that your not just flung into a depression box to which the place your going might say no thanks! perhaps they are trying to see why exactly you get depressed and what measures could be put in place to stop it affecting your work?
I find a SAD lamp helps me wonders in the winter! luckily the sun is out and i'm starting to cheer the F up! If you make a statement to them saying "oh I get depressed in the winter" don't you think that goes DING DING THIS PERSON IS GONNA BE OFF ALL WINTER! they are just trying to make sure you can do the job/cover their backs if you do go off on sick!
I don't really take time off work (mostly can't afford it, lol!).
You're right, I should be more positive.... I guess am getting wound up, as this is taking so long and my financial situation. Will know some tme next week how it'll go. I just put 'mild depression'.
I am hoping to get a SAD lamp once I can afford it too... My mood has improved now I try to eat most foods unprocessed and exercise more.
Anybody else got their CRB? I got mine yesterday.0 -
