@matt44 Mmmm the picture kinda explains it :rotfl:
Just drag the knife back and forth over the wheel its non-electric you know.
I realise that, but are you supposed to pull the knife towards you only, or push and pull the knife across it? and do you then have to turn the sharpener round, or does it do both sides at once?
This may sound a bit think, but every time I try to sharpen a knife with it, it seems to turn out differently.0 -

Although it might be best to practice with a steel first in order to avoid dismemberment!Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
I use my steel, once a week get all the knives out and give them a going over.
Never really bothered about brands etc. Just get the ones that sit nicely in my hand and aren't too thin.Noli nothis permittere te terere

I bought a knife sharpener jsut before christmas that Is absolutley brill. It cost me a fiver, but it works a treat. So much so that I sliced right through one of my fingers on christmas day lol. I was trying to cut through a plastic tie thingy on a toy. The knife was so sharp I hardly felt a thing! Nearly ended up in casualty on Christmas day, but adter a bit of strapping and firm pressure I managed to avoid it. It's healing well but I have no feeling in it.
It beats my steel any day, but I can't remember what it;s called as I threw the packaging away. I will try to find out and post back later.0 -

Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life.0 -
I'm a recent convert to Old Style in many areas, but one thing I have always used is an old fashioned kitchen steel to sharpen my knives.
I've always been of the opinion that a sharp knife is the most useful kitchen implement, but I seem to be alone among my friends in sharpening this way.
Anyone else do this?I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
I do. I have tried sharpeners but they never seem to work properly.
I actually use my OH Grandmothers steel. Hows that for MSE:money:0 -
My Dad has always sharpened knives with a steel and gave me my first steel when I left home to live on my own. I still use it.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0
