Sorry if it seems like im moaning but i thought you'd be interested in reading about my situation. The other day I tried getting 5 or 6 things at once using the td coupons- bill= 2 pounds. Manager said I can only use 1 coupon per day, so I reluctantly accepted after she insisted saying the bit on the coupon saying ' cannot be used retrospectively' actually meant '1 per day'.(Duh.) So I went back the next day, coupon in hand, smile on face. She then said I was taking the stuff to another local boots and getting full refund for gift vouchers. She said I was abusing the offer and she won't accept any more coupons from me. Apparently staff from another store had been giving full refunds for td stuff people obviously got free. Guess what- they matched my description, and the manager assumed it was me. Enraged, I left empty handed.
Phoned customer services the next day to enquire about t&c's of vouchers. Yep, can use as many as you like every day unrestricted, merely 1 per transaction. "Funny", I said, "the manager of boots in roundswell, barnstaple, has said that I can only use 1 per day!" "No, as many as you like" she said. "Well, actually she has banned me from using them completely as someone in another local store who looks like me has been getting refunds for free products. She was very rude as well I might add, she accused me in front of a store full of customers" The cs lady then very sweetly said she would look into it and get back to me, as boots take customer service and matters like this very seriously. So, I went away and waited for a phone call. 6 hours later her supervisor finally rang back.
    "hello?"she said.
    "hello."
"I have spoken to the manager of the store who refused to serve you and she says you had been in a few days before and taken all the leaflets off the shelves" (which I did NOT do- mse'ers kindly sent me the vouchers (ta!))
    "I did not!" I replied.
"Sorry but thats what i've been told. She also said you have been taking the items to another store and exchanging them for gift vouchers. (good idea but I NEVER did this)You have abused the offer and I'm sorry but you are not allowed to use any more of those coupons. There is a limit of one per customer" She said arrogantly.
"No there isn't, your cs themselves told me so!" I replied, amazed.
"The leaflets are 1 per cust. and you took all of them" she went on. and on. and on. She finally insisted that the mardi managers decision was final, no matter how unjust. I told her she was incompetent and I would be taking this to the chief executive of boots, which I will. Slander, arrogance, discrimination and unfair treatment are things I did not expect when using the coupons in the same way as their own staff around the country. I'm having the last laugh though by standing by the que and handing out the vouchers to customers and pointing them towards the td stuff in front of THAT manager. HA! HA!

I asked my mum what that meant..she said it means that..say having paid full price for a product, then remembering you had a voucher..ask them to give you the voucher value after the transaction. Confused..I'd say!

London Fleet Street had some 1/2 price TD starter kits and Intensive lotion yesterday. Guess the city gals weren't too interested in cut-price wrinkle cream!
  • blimey, fsmlsn 1 sounds like you've found a really grumpy manager. All the staff at my local Boots keep giving me funny looks (I guess they think I only need a sleeping bag to take up residence) but I've never been treated as rudely as that.

It sounds as if you've been treated terribly, but I really think you'll be wasting your time writing to the CEO.

Presumably Boots have lost a fair bit of money thru this and other ill-conceived offers recently. If anything, the CEO would be grateful for a hard-faced CS supervisor and Store Manager. I wonder if Customer Services have been ordered "from above" to not give much service to people complaining about the TD offer?
