My Daughter has the elc one (bought by grandparents without asking) and I have to say I think its rubbish for the amount it costs. it is quite small even when all built up (that might be a good thing) its fairly cheap looking and i don't think it would stand up to being played with a lot (my DD never really bothered with it) its not very sturdy and fell over a few times. You do get a lot of accessories with it but there is nowhere in it to store them without shoving them all in the dishwasher bit.
I don't know about the little tykes one but their toys are usually very durable.MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740 -
Hi we had the elc one and i thought it was good, took up abit to much space so went to grandmas house. Not sure in the price difference to both the kitchens but would prob agree little tykes thinks tend to stand up to bumps etc and so would prob be stronger. What age is your daughter.?wendy x0

Little tykes are fab. They last forever and have a good resale value too. Fab for throwing out in the garden if needbe.
My dd wanted the elc one but we didnt think it was worth the money to be honest.
I would pay extra and get the tykes oneTRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0 -

Hi, as part of my job 3 years ago I set up a toy library, we had kitchens from the elc and little tykes - The little tykes ones are still going strong and the elc one did not last a year, very flimsy plastic any pressure applied and it splits. As others have mentioned Little tykes is very durable and can be put outside if space becomes and issue.
Choccy'we don't stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing'0 -
ELC do a wooden one that is very good, I got the pink one for my DD, but I think they have stopped selling it now in favour of a red retro one. I never got a plastic one because my little sister had one and it didn't last very long!
I'd opt for a wooden one, if your budget allows it, as it will last!0 -
ahh thanks for all your tips the little tykes one is £5.00 cheaper !! def go for that one it think0

Another one with the ELC kitchen here... I find it a nuisance really, DD's 'cooked' on it a handfull of times in 2 years... And I'm just always tripping over the accesories that come with it... It takes up a lot of space and because it's pushed against a wall she can only use one side anyway...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Our DD is 22 months & we are also looking at getting her a kitchen for Christmas! Just to throw a different one into the mix: We absolutely love the look of this one as it is wooden. I just think that it will look much nicer in her bedroom/living & seems classier/nicer than the plastic ones (now I just sound crazy don't I!!).

There is also a slightly bigger version at £60 if you wanted to spend more, however, the age guide says 4+ so we are going to ring up tomorrow & find out if this means it would be too tall for her. Especially as she's such a dot.
