  • sounds good in theory....DS just had his £10 (paid to me) but as not getting CA doubt I will be entitled plus tend not to believe much this gov has to say as always gives with one hands and takes away with other........ won't hold breath but will be a nice surprise if it does happen
  • At the bottom of this page http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1088930/Winter-bonus-Pensioners-receive-60-families-given-early-boost-child-benefits.html

It says that disabled children will get £70 payment in January...
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!

  • hi patsy,
no, the only thing I know of which is effected by a claim for carers allowance is if someone recieves the severe disability suppliment for income support.

as long as you care for 35h a week and earn under £95 after deductions you shold get it, more info here: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/CaringForSomeone/MoneyMatters/CarersAllowance/DG_10012525

get your claim in straight away this week if you wanna get your extra christmas bonus payment this year! You can claim online here:

You can say that again. My son requires full time care and support, I get Income Spport and Carers allowance, but my income support is reduced by the equivilent of the Carers allowance. I don't like to complain, I love my son, but I'm in absolute poverty because I'm a carer. 2yrs ago the local authority quoted that it would cost £235,000 a year for his care in a residential unit, and that's if they could find one. If they are prepared to pay these sickening amounts to strangers, why can't they allow us to have our carers allowance without reducing our income support? Why give us something and then take it away from something else:mad:

  • dont know if anyone can help but will children on DLA on the low rate of care (around £70pm) get the £60 or do you have to be on the high and middle to recieve this.I havent recieved the £10 xmas bonus but that maybe because my son only recieves low rate care and nothing for mobility as we are in the middle of an appeal to up it to middle which he had always been on.

My understanding is that if there is an entitlement to carers allowance in the qualifying period (first full week in December) you are also entitled to the £10 Christmas bonus.
  • hiya,

my husband recieves dla and ib,
will he get this £60 payment for after christmas or is this for anyone who is entitled to carers allowance,

    thanks in advance.

    Hi there
My my son age 13 has High rate care and low rate mobility of DLA, I am his full time carer, this month I received the £10 bonus on carers and my son had this also on his DLA, but not heard anything or received any letters about the extra bonus which is due to get paid out early 2009.
I take it not everyone have heard about this yet then?
