    Hi Guys

I took a sharp intake of breath when I saw this target... It seems so scarily huge, and I know what sacrifices it is going to mean (You know, even those little ones when you're soooo tired after work and it would be so easy to buy a £3.99 ready meal as you wander past the supermarket, instead of the relentless, but much cheaper, cooking from scratch, which works out at 80p a meal or something close, and you know it makes sense but it's raining and you're knackered....) .

But those sacrifices really do add up to a big difference, and I know it's worth it, so...., gulp, sign me up for this enormous challenge too.

I hereby declare that I will have paid off (at least) £20000 by Christmas 2009.

(and I'll still have a little more to do after that, but will be WELL ON MY WAY, so that will be amazing!!!)

Thank you for setting up this challenge - the support is crucial. Couldn't even imagine doing it alone.

    xx

Having a dither about this one! I've divided my debts into two, I'm just dealing with the credit cards for now. I'm not sure I can make the £20k, but there's no punishment for not quite making it, is there?:D

Right! Decided! Put me down for the £20k, any extra off the debt is a bonus...

  • Sign me up for £8k please :D I know we are aiming for £20k but realistically, there is no blinking way I can do that much!

£8k is probably a little optimistic considering my snowball said I'll be debt free in 2011 by hey... I'm up for the challenge!!!!

I've reassured myself that this works out at £55 per day (give or take a few pennies), and that feels more manageable.

I think that is the approach I'm going to take - to make a payment of £55 each day, either directly to a credit card, or into a separate account to accumulate £1650 per month to overpay a loan at the end of the month.

Boy this is challenging..... Extra part time job anyone?

    (gulp)

I'll join you with the 30k Hypno. I'm still aiming (and roughly on target for) £70 a day which is just a little over £25k, so this would be an extra push.

We're just counting actual payments made (less any extra debt we may take out for any reason), right? So if you pay £100 off a card, but get charged £20 interest later in the month, that's £100 towards the target, not £80? But if you pay £100 and then re-spent £20 on chocolate that would only be £80 towards the target? Sorry for being a stickler, but I remember at the start of last year's challenge loads of people were asking the rules. I could easily pay off £50k if I was allowed to exclude any additional spending but that would defeat the object somewhat!

    Thanks for setting it up.

I'm quite excited now, though I have no idea where this money is supposed to come from... I already work full time, as does DH, and I have my own cake business too. I guess more selling on ebay and amazon.

    And robbing banks.
  • I feel a bit like that but i've joint Quidco and got £60 for free clicks and buying my contents and pet insurance which i should get soon so now i've only got to get £19,940! *LOL*

I'm going to be ebaying,quidco-ing and cutting back like there is no tomorrow!
