Hi unixgirl - sorry to hear that. have you started looking for anything new yet? any luck with interviews?
I don't think we will have any more payments with month so my cumulative total to March is £8,766.Paying down the mortgage:
At 1 October 2011: £226,000
Currently: £224,499
Aim: 85% LTV (£212,500)
Paid £1,500
Target remaining: 88.89%0 -
So sorry to hear your news unixgirl. Hugs to you.
I have paid off another £115 today and updated my sig.
I was hoping that setting the total at £30k would mean that I clear off all my debt this year, but with the interest and surcharges etc its not going to do it. I really don't want to up my target cos i want to succeed at this to keep me motivated and moving the goal posts even further away may have the opposite effect.
I will keep the goal as it is, then anything i pay over and above that (if any, realistically:p ) will be a bonus.
Have a good day everyone xx2013 TARGET £30k

Hello all,
Having received notification of my savings interest rate going to an astonishing 0.25% gross yesterday I re-read Martin's article on using savings to pay off debts and wondered what other people have done?
I like the security of my savings, mainly so that if I should become unemployed I'd be able to cover all my bills and, for the bulk part, my debt payments. And I would absolutely have to cancel all my cards when I've paid them off as I am extremely weak and would, almost certainly, start to build up a debt again.
So - just wondered really, has anyone else done the same? Luckily, the debts and savings aren't in the same place so at least I'm not paying to borrow back my own money directly!

Batfink - its lousy what they have done with savings rates.
I would use the savings to get rid of the debt if I were you cos I am sure you will be being screwed on those and their interest rates are not a lousy 0.25%.
Other than my pension, I am not saving. I want rid of my debt as fast as i can.
Talking of which, I have pad £350 off VAT arrears today.
That means I have managed to pay off about 45% of my target.:j It seems i may be able to hit it in time.

Well done to everyone for their March payments, however big or small - they are all helping to get us where we need to be......and in these very trying economic times, that is no mean feat, so give yourselves a pat on the back for good work done so far, and be proud of yourselves!
I truly hope that those looking for jobs find something very quickly.
Just £15 to report for me today - my normal payments will come out next week which will help my total a bit, but I think I am still someway short of where I should be to hit my target. Still - all heading in the right direction so I won't complain!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. I'm so excited - my DH is getting paid £500 for some extra work - and he's going to put it all to pay off the barclaycard! He's definitely had a lightbulb moment! Which means no interest happening on the card, and down to just two ccs. WOOOOOO!0
