Silly question re: transfer of NS&I Direct ISA

Options
Hi,

I am intending to transfer my savings from my NS&I Direct ISA to NatWest's Cash ISA, and I have downloaded the 'transfer form' from NatWest, but I am a bit confused by one section...

It asks for the name of the current ISA provider and then asks for an 8 digit Account Number and a 6 digit Sort Code.

The problem is that I only have an 11 digit NS&I number and a 9 digit Account Number (no Sort Code at all, as far as I can see), so I don't know what to put in this section?!?

If anyone else has been through the same process, I would appreciate some advice on this.

Otherwise, I guess I will just take the form into a NatWest branch and ask them how I am supposed to fill it out!

Thanks,
Ben

Apparently all ISAs will have a sort code and eight digit a/c number these days - they can tell you what these are if you ask them...

A bit pathethic of NatWest, though, they could do the same with the account reference you've already been been given.

[Ah! on second thoughts - I've just recalled that the same combination: sort code and account number has been asked for on two ISA transfer forms -from different ISA providers- that I've filled in recently. These forms (and the questions on them) are apparently pro-forma copies of an HMRC standard form. Thus my guess of why NatWest is asking for this information is that the Inland Revenue issued fresh guidance this year. In other words it's for tick boxing reasons]

  • Thanks for the info. I just contacted NS&I and they informed me of the Sort Code, so that is fine. My Account Number is 9 digits long, so it does not fit neatly in the form provided by NatWest, but I am sure they will be able to cope :)

    Thanks again.
