You are better getting a good Cava than a cheap Champagne, Decanter magazine usually has fizz articles at this time of year.

We had sparkling wine at our wedding and no one knew it wasn't champagne

We were able to supply all drinks rather than have a package so we sampled sparkling/ champagne/ cava to see which was best. We liked the Lanson (I think??) Champagne, but couldn't tell the difference between that and the sparkling so it was a no brainer in the end!

EDIT - this is what we had - http://www.tesco.com/winestore/controller.aspx?Bc=60180+5523&Bc2=60180%7cSparkling+wine*5523%7cAustralia&R=7348857

On special offer now for £5.21 a bottle xx
  • I prefer Italian Prosecco - Lidl have a good one which is also available in small cans which taste just as good as the bottled version
It's even better turned into a Royale with some creme de cassis
  • Just to let you know found a site called www.smartliquor.com that got some cracking deals on.

Bought lanson at 16.99 when you buy 2 or more and free delivery on 12

Just sent me a 24 hrs special deal open to all just for the 27th November its going for £95.94 for a box of 6 bottles (£15.99 each)

Really good service so far and their 24hr deals change as they say on a daily basis.Missed out on Veuve Cliquot Yellow label was selling at £21.99 when bought as a case of 6 ,called them and they say not to worrry they will be putting that offer back on soon for 1 day only.

Hope this get you all a better bargin.....

  • I like rose champaigns which are usually more expensive than standard ones but I do have a favourite cheap alternative which is called "Pink"

Its really drinkable in that nice but slightly dangerous way :p . It usually costs £7.99 and I've seen it in Asda, Spar and Sainsburys (not sure about Tesco and Morrisons). However its often on special offer from time to time so its not unusual to find it for around £5. I always stock up when its on offer.

  • I was shopping in Sainsburys yesterday and picked up some Sainsburys Taste the Difference vintage cava for £4.99 (half price, normally £9.99). Remember if you buy 6 bottles of wine, you get 5% off as well, makes it £4.74 a bottle which I thought was pretty good as I have been looking around for nice cava for a while for new year
  • Does anyone remember whether Majestic usually does a Christmas discount offer please?
