I have just had my annual review with payplan and have agreed to increase my payments by 20% per month as I now pay a lot less on my mortgage since interest rates came down. These new payments will start in January. Whilst doing my review they offered to put me through to uswitch.com to look at my gas and electricity to see if I can get a better deal. Unfortunately uswithch's call centre was in India so I couldn't understand a bloody thing they were on about so I just hung up and did it myself online.
I called British gas, my current supplier and got my usage and cost for the last 12months and then hit the comparison sites myself. In five minutes I have managed to save £128 (18%) per year- I am very happy with this and have switched via a cash back site which will get me another £15.
Now for the bad stuff....
I am at home waiting for a heating engineer to come and fix my boiler as I can get heating just no hot water at the moment unless the heating is turned on at the same time. I think the boiler needs a new diaphragm, I've had two in the last 8 years and it's now time for another. I've had to shell out for car repairs this month and I've had to buy a new fridge freezer as mine packed up- fortunately I've been able to afford these at the moment thru careful spending and saving but I can take no more disasters now.
I have managed to loose 5 kilos since August (although I am taking December off) and am feeling a lot better for it. I have been prescribed some new diabetic tablets which are slow releasing and they are brilliant- I only wish I knew about them in January as this would have made my year a lot easier.
Had the works Christmas do last Saturday and had a great time, although the hotel was booked under an alias company name as nobody wants to see bank employees having a good time at the moment. The food was brilliant but the disco was a bit lame, a bit like a !!!!!! wedding but after drinking a huge amount I threw some shapes and tried to hide from the legless middle aged office ladies who have a babycham and want to shag anything that moves. Talking of shagging there were a few people doing the walk of shame on Monday morning!
Should be an early finish on Friday and then straight to the pub with friends and I shall be having Christmas dinner with friends the next day. She is a brilliant cook and the food will be amazing, I am supplying the cheese board and port which I got up early this morning to go and get, and a good job I did as Tesco was packed by 7.45am.
The shortest day is behind us and summer is on the way. Happy Christmas! Jim.0 -
Heating engineer came and fixed the hot water for £70. Fix lasted about 5 hours and I now have no hot water and can't get hold of him. Looks like a cold shower Christmas.0

Had a few days off so I thought I'd catch upon some tv that I've missed and thought I'd give BBC Accused a go as everyone is talking about it. Well I've just had my license fee's worth in just six episodes- brilliant, truly brilliant tv, I sobbed like a baby through most of them. I shall look out for Jimmy Mcgovens work in the future- he knows how to write a gripping script, I even felt sorry for the Murderer in the dock.0
