If next were selling a quality shoe service, they would be measuring feet and offering a variety of widths. They are just trendy fashion shoes.
Now I'm not saying Clarks are the best, there are many others like Jones and Startrite, who make decent children's shoes.
Children's shoes should be fitted properly with a proper width so they don't have problems later.

That said, I'm all for trying to get your money back. If they won't refund I always ask for a gift card or vouchers.0 -
Sorry I would sort of agree with shop assistant. Baby shoes dont last long because they generally grow out of them but they shouldnt really fall apart. But you would be better off with Clarks they last. My little boy only wears clarks and always grows out of them within about 2 months but they are usually in great condition still. Next are just fashion shoes.0

You seem to be contradicting yourself here. You agree with the shop assistant, BUT they shouldn't really fall apart. If you believe they shouldn't fall apart, surely you disagree with the shop assistant?
Also, babies' and children's shoes shouldn't fall apart because they grow out of them, surely? My shoes last for a year or two, then I need to replace them, but if I was a child I would grow out of them long before they had time to become unwearable for other reasons.
If Next's shoes are only 'fashion shoes' and can't be relied upon to last more than two months, then that is something a sales assistant should make clear before you buy them. Having said that, I wouldn't buy shoes for my daughter anywhere they didn't measure her feet properly.0 -
The first time I took my child to Clarks they measured their feet. When I tried a pair of shoes in the size they stated, they didn't fit! I have been there many times since & there hasn't been a sa available to measure feet. Nine times out of ten they haven't got the size you want anyway!0

I used to work in the shoe department of a fashion shop. The polocy was that returns had to come back within 28days, including faulty items. However, I would be inclined to agree that shoes should last more than 1 month in most circumstances, - it depends on how they are worn, what kind of shoes etc etc. You couldn't expectflip flops for example to last long, if they're worn every day. You couldn't expect court shoes to last a month if they're worn every day, and walked on for hours upon hours around town, however the likelyhood of that happening is somewhat slim (only one pair of shoes being walked on for hours and hours each day). It also depends on the style of shoes - some shoes are clearly designed for certain things - for example - you wouldn't run over a field in a pair of Jimmy Choos! If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0
