I have purchased a couple of pairs of shoes from Next which fell apart very quickly and I wont buy from there again.
I think that you should complain, I wouldnt expect shoes to only last two months. I have bought cheaper shoes from other stores and they have lasted for years.0 -
I think that you would expect all shoes to last more than a month - even really cheapy ones... especially if they have only had normal use. I would have assumed that being next they would be of decent quality no matter what the price as they are not a budget end retailer. Also i would expect next to have standards which each of there suppliers/franchises adhere to.
I would definitely go back as you have the receipt and quietly and firmly state my case. If i got no where i would loudly and firmly state my case - if i still got no where i would get on to head office asap.Debt free May 2016 (without the support of MSE forum users that would never have been possible - thank you all)0 -
TBH - I've always had fab CS from Next.
With your receipt, just ask nicely for a refund. That should be enough.0 -
I purchased some leather school shoes from Next last year. Within a month, they were in an appalling state-the outersole had worn thin, the innersole was full of holes & had bunched up around the toes, the appliqued leather flowers on the outside were hanging off, not to mention the scuff marks! We didn't even walk to school & back so they were only being worn during the school day!
Spoke to one of the mums at school, she'd had a similar problem & returned them no questions asked, though she put that down to a relative who works there. Her solution was to buy cheap shoes from Asda & just replace them every few months or so when they were worn out. So I just thought, 'lesson learnt, won't go there again!'(anything for a quiet life, me! )
Anyway, I think you should do all you can to get some recompence-the shoes are not fit for purpose & should not have fallen apart in such a short space of time! Who is the SA to judge what's cheap & what's not?!
I have also bought shoes from Clarks(outlet but not factory seconds)& they aren't much better in my opinion, just not so bad when you pay no more than £20 a pair(IF they have your size!)rather than £30 on the high street!
I have yet to find reasonably priced shoes that last a full term!0 -
I would definitely insist on a refund - this is incredible, and the idea that any shoes made for children are classed as fashion shoes is ridiculous!. If they still decline then definitely look on the consumer direct website. You should not have to put up with rubbish like that. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Like others have said, i find clarks quality now to be terrible. I've always bought my boys shoes there as i did consider them better quality than places like Next but my son's last pair of clarks shoes literally fell apart after a weeks wear  Due to it being really bad timing and not living near the outlet store i bought them from, i didn't complain but am seriously considering buying a different make eg. startrite in future.
I recently checked a few of pairs of clarks shoes my eldest had when he was younger and they still look as new. They were all made in this country whereas the ones you buy now aren't. That seems to be where the problem lies :rolleyes:0 -
Complain - direct to HO.
I complained about an all-in-one underwear item I had. The strap broke upon my first wear and left me unsupported on a night out! Most people would probably have been too embarassed to take it back. I washed it and sent it back to their HO with my receipt. I received an apology for my embarassment and a new one from this season! So well worth the effort.0 -
LUCKY me ... l just found the reciept in a Next bag, l had purchased them on the 13th of Oct. thats just over a month, oh well im defo going back now l got a case on my hands that needs dealing wid.... and l aint taking no for an answer!!!!!:)
Good for you. Stick with it. I have found Next to be excellent normally.!0 -
We dont seem to have a problem with Clarks kids shoes, we never buy at full price tho we either get them in the sales or from the Clarks Outlet0

IMHO just because it is cheap you still have rights, I often buy from Next clearance store ( not kids shoes as they never have any I like ) If I bought something at £1 and it broke/torn within a reasonable amount of time I would still take it back - Just because we are MSE's we should have our rights taken away from us.
Just mentin CAB or Trading Standards and you'll find you'll get a refund quick smart - Good LuckBusy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:0
