NEXT pathetic excuse!!!

Well carrying on from my previous thread about my lil dd shoes l brought less then 2 months ago. the velcro was coming away and the shoes had loosenmed to the extent they were too loose for her. anyway went into store today for an exchange, but instead l got a pathetic excuse that their shoes are "fashion shoes" so basically there not meant to last!!! she said they were accessories to the NEXT franchise...basically meaning there complete crap, no quality what so ever. She even had the cheek to say that 2 months for shoes was a "LONG TIME" it was about time l brought her some new shoes!!!!
the nerve....... seriously it has p****d me off to the max.
So what u guys think that am l being unreasonable or the other way round....
ofcourse she had a worn them for over a month....so they were pretty worn.
Is there any place l can complain????

  • I don't want to sound uncaring, but I'd agree with the salesperson. Next do sell cheap shoes that clearly aren't meant to last past a few months. Its a false economy to buy cheap shoes. Better off to buy from clarks etc and have a pair that last.

You could probably send a letter to Next head office, but I suspect that it would just be filed in that round metal container under the desk and a stock letter sent out to you. If you are lucky they may send you some vouchers, so it's worth a shot.

The only thing you can really do is to just not buy shoes from there again.

Thanks.. but l consider £17 a fair amount for kids shoes. l usually only buy from clarks becuz they are clearly better quality. however l expected better standards from Next, there not exactly cheap in my view. would have been better off buying from priceless shoes and chuck em in the bin after a few months!!!

Seriously doubt that she has any rights at all. If they were cheap shoes then it's pretty much a case of "Get what you pay for"

If they had worn out within a couple of weeks then you would have something, but two months is too long to really have a case.

I disagree. Next are not cheap by any means. It sounds like they are not fit for purpose.

Just because Clarks are expensive doesn't mean good quality. Why do people think Clarks is the only place to get decent kids shoes? And lets face it, not all of us can afford £30 for shoes every few months!!
  • Next shoes are not cheap. Seriously guys 2 months for a pair of kids shoes is rubbish. Go to consumer services, Next head office, the works. I'd be furious.

Good on you - I would not accept this either.

You buy shoes & exspect them to last until you have to replace them due to needing the next size up - not because they are badly made.

I remember having some Clarks shoes as a child that I hated. They fell apart a few weeks into the school year & I was glad - but my Mum went & got a new pair & she got the same ones....

    good luck

  • I had a pair of mens shoes from Next that wore through a hole in the toe after 2 months. Last week I took them back to the store without a receipt, but took my bank statement in. I told the customer service assistant at the till, he went away and saw the manager and returned to say it was 'normal wear and tear' to have holes in both shoes after 2 months. I then asked for the managers name and staff number so I could write to head office. He appeared and promptly agreed to an exchange. Where I work at Moss, we get the same kind of thing, kick up a big enough fuss and let them think you'll be complaining directly about them as a person and the way they've treated you you'll get an exchange pretty quickly.
