I have never made bread before - but am keen to give it a go! Don't have a breadmaker, so needs to be buy hand, and fairly straight forward!
I love bread that is really soft and fluffy on the inside, and kind of crusty but chewy on the outside!
Is there a foolproof can't go wrong recipe I could use? I feel I might have to make some at the weekend!0 -

Ooooh I will look just now! HFW is one of my secret crushes! Thanks for the info! I am meant to be on a diet so I might have to make it, slice it and freeze most of it, or I would happrily eat the whole lot!:rotfl:0 -
Hi
Made a polenta and red pepper bread. Came out well but next time I'm going to reduce the temperature from 220 to 210 and bake for 25 mins instead of 30. (I cooked on the conventional setting instead of the fan and was worried it wasn't working as I'm so used to hearing the fan. Had to keep checking it was on.:rotfl::rotfl:)
I'm getting used to using my electric cooker and it's great. Not sure I'll ever use all 9 of the oven settings but having a pizza setting is handySealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -

Hi
I know what you mean. Making bread isn't as difficult/complicated as I thought. Now I've tasted real bread, I'm never buying shop stuff again.:j:)
My next loaf is going to be wholemeal or spiced millet. Also, I fancy some wholemeal hot cross buns.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -

(Sorry if I've missed this somewhere, it's a long thread!)
My mum was wanting to make bread tomorrow, but when she went to the shop to buy some strong flour to bake it with, it was all gone (we think everyone has rushed out to buy it and make their own bread during the bad weather!). Is there anything she could use as a substitute? I know we have self raising flour but I can trawl the cupboards for any other suggestions if need be.
ThanksThank you competition posters!
