Thanks to the original poster for this great bargain. I did a bit of calling around this morning and found one of these in the Co-op in Shrewsbury. The item scanned at £49.99, but after I spoke to the manager on the phone and told him that this item was mentioned in MSE and was obtainable for £24.99 they put the item through the till at the lower price. I printed the initial post of this thread off and took it as proof of the lower price and I had no problem. ( I think I have converted the manager to the benefits of the MSE forums)

I see this item is selling on Amazon for £64. My initial findings on the radio are very good.
    you were lucky

given there is no official link or positing information from Coop itself

i can see sainsburys, tesco pcworld, etc dropping their prices just because i brought in a print out from a forum lol
  • There do not appear to be any Ministry of Sound DAB radios in the Co-Ops in York (We have "Late Shop"s and a "Food Market"). There are Ministry of Sound CD players. There are Alba and Crown DAB Radios. None of these are reduced. Anyone else in North Yorkshire found any?

I used the coop website and phoned the stores from the local numbers on the coop website. Searching for stores on the coop site is a 2 stage process - the first landing page is so complicated it really looks like you aren't getting anywhere, but you need to choose "Food Stores", not "Non Food Stores" I guess.

Tesco sold this for £29.99 (only in the v. large stores) some months ago - don't know if they still have it may be worth checking?
  • Hi all,

I work for the Co-Op, and have not seen these players personally in store.

I would think they were a christmas line, and are now at the low price to clear stocks.

Let me give some advice though.....
Many of the Co-Op stores are quite small, and will never stock any non-food items such as these. Your best bet is to try some of the (relatively) larger ones. Even they will probably have limited stocks.

A similar thing happened with Remmington hair straighteners we had in at £14.99 before christmas. They were advertised in the leaflet drop, and our only batch of 6 were snapped up within days. Unfortunately, they were a one-off line of limited stock and were very hard to come by!

    Good luck!

  • To the person who thought that the Co-op is the Co-op no matter where you live. In fact, the Co-op is run by different Societies depending on the area in which you live. The largest Co-operative Society is the Co-operative Group and covers most of England and Scotland. There are smaller independent societies, for example Clydebank Co-op and Scotmid, both in Scotland. Check with your local Co-op before you make the trek.

Exactly what I was thinking...Our co-op has changed a few times over the years (norwich) and will be changing again shortly to be the Colchester co-op

I'm interested but have tried the co-op website and get 6 shoefayre stores near me and no non-food non-shoe stores. I live in finchley north london so any help would be appreciated.
  • Why did you not state on your site at the beginning we could not buy the low price DAB from the Co-op online? This is not a good start to using your site.
