  • Heya... ok - i spent £3 on breakfast, £2.50 on coffee for 2 people and £1 on vending machine stuff so thats a total of £6.50. Bad I know but somedays... can't not spend cos yup. Thats life...
  • Heya, I made toast for brekkie but left it on the side by accident so went in with no brekkie.... so i bougt a croissont for 60p. Then i had my own lunch...only 2 sarnies. (RESULT...). Ended up working very late... got in at like 10pm and bought a packet of crisps for 50p. So spent £1.20. Lovely. yes i know it all adds up but its difficult to stay hungry. but on the plus side.... i got £6 that my mate owed me today... SO thats a top result.

    hi!

i like your diary and you are very good at listing the spending (well done on the NSD btw:j), but it encourages me to do sums.......

so, if you spent £6.50 a day every day then that would be £2372 a year! if you only spent £1.10 a day that would be only £401 a year. over 5 years you would save more than £10,000!

thought that might help! i can definitely see where you money goes. put bags of dried fruit/nuts, cereal bars etc in your bag - do you have anywhere to store your stuff at work? you don't need to go hungry. you can make a weeks worth of sandwiches with some fillings, freeze them and take them out each day - just think of what will work for you x
  • Yes you are very right. Its something that I need to do. I will be doing that this weekend. I'll be buying food for the whole day like fruit. I started a routine atm about getting in about 8am, which means i need to be MORE organised. So I think I am going to have to increase my weekly food budget so instead of spending £12 on food weekly I'll have to increase it to a bit more so I'll have food at uni.

Today though I did spend. I find it difficult to control my moods. and when i go to different extremes i spend. Today I spent £4.20 on a letter for special delivery, £2.30 on lunch and £5.55 on cigs. I have some food in tonight so I should eat that but I just want to treat myself as I've worked so hard. But I know I'd feel better if i don;t buy food. I am highly considering only giving myself a certain amount to spend at uni - so not take my debit card with me but only cash. Is that a good idea?
  • Also thank you very much for comenting on my diary. Its really helpful :)
  • I made my own dinner tonight instead of spending money on an unhealthy takeaway... instead i experimented with an aubergeine bake.... hmmm I wonder if it turns out ok!
  • I have to say if i wasnt on this forum i would have actually have gone out to get a takeaway! i know it doesnt sound like a massive achievement but I am quite pleased with myself :-)

well done you on cooking! and aubergines are my favourite;).

i find that taking no money to work works for me. i may get annoyed that i have to eat whatever i have on me, but ultimately i know i have saved money.

i spend most of my cash at the weekend (my money week starts on a friday) - so i get really proud when i don't spend anything at work from mon-thurs.

any money left pays off my mortgage.

do you have a goal, so that the money saved is contributing towards something?
  • Heya, Well both of the accounts I have are both in overdraft so I am using that to take out money at the moment. So any money i don;t spend means its less to come out of my overdraft. I am aiming to pay it off by February. Well one of them at least. As soon as I get into credit, I can start paying off my other overdraft which I don't really use.

But today I spent £16.12 on a weekly food shop. I bought lots of snacks especially for uni so I won't spend as much... I hope it works and I don't eat it all this weekend...........
