Inked Spending Diary.............

  • Hello. Well.Wowowee. Ive posted 3 times on this thing. Right... I just got back from the shops... I thought food prices were going down... but greengrocers are going up!
I spent £15 on food and I stupidly decided I wanted to buy a drink for £1.10 and a pasty - £0.99. Only because my friend was getting one. I can normally get away with spending around £10 a week but i had stuff like oil, butter and things like that, which I don;t normally buy.Yup silly excuse AND I hadnt eaten breakfast. Next time I'll be sure to have breakfast and have drink with me for when I go out. So this means I only have £2 (possibly soem change) to have to spend for the rest of the week.
I spend most of my money on food, coffee etc. Hopefully - as I will have all of my food sorted there will be no need to spend anything on food adn I can have loads of NSD. I have no choice as I am leaving my debit card at home this week! YUP thats my challenge!

Take care you all! Happy Saving!
  • Yey, I just resisted takeaway... my housemate was getting some but I didnt want any and I don;t want to spend the money as I only have £6 for the week. So I said no.Sorry for being a nuicanse on here... its just that once I get into the habbit of not spending its easier. didnt have to buy stuff like random drinks and I know that If i was on my own i wouldnt have.
  • They say that it create a habit you have to do it for 14 days solid before the habit sticks! Keep at it inked, you are doing well! I log my daily spending on www.spendingdiary.com it's really good and it helps me keep track!
  • Cool, thanks for the tip! Have just signed up! I kind of feel its all going a bit downward as I have to pay rent week.... thats more money gone. It just keeps going and going...
  • Heya - sorry again for continually using this thing.... as I expected, I went to the crafts fair and spent £1.50. But didnt buy anything, instead just had a cool time looking at things and trying the free fudge. I think my housemate thinks I am a cheapskate but I told her, I am not that broke at the moment, I need to becareful because in March I will have NO money coming in. So I need to save now and also adopt healthy spending habbits for later on. Shes alot younger and has parents support to go and splurge so she still doesnt get it. Oh well.
  • a really simple tip to stop you spending money is not to carry any with you - it sounds too simple, but if you don't have it you cannot buy that tea, coffee, overpriced sandwich etc.

take a multipack of value apples and crisps to work and just eat those if necessary.

have a look on your thread and tot up how much you have spent already on this kind of stuff - don't beat yourself up about it though, once it's done/spent it's done.

re. takeaways, they can be cheap - just get a small simple pizza or a chow mein, indian veg side dish and a naan. these would all be £5 or less.

it's about getting value for money x
  • Ok, Again, appologies for the constant updates. I am getting really angry with a friend of mine who always nicks my food. If we go out for dinner, I always get what I fancy eating and she gets something small. THEN she just keeps nicking my food. Its fine if i havent finished it but not if i am in the middle of eating. A couple times i dont have any change so i give her a note to pay with my bit of the food - she pays for a drink for herself, herself and my food then claims she doesnt have enough change for me. Then she calls me stingy. This was ages ago when I did used to go out for dinner and random lunches with her. But now, since I;ve started thiknng about spending I'm trying hard to say no. I just dont want to lose my friends in the proces :-(
  • Yup... bad day! Spent £3 on cigs and a 45pence on one banana. I stupidly came home early for lunch and thought that would be enough for the rest of the day but i was hungry so needed something.... so bought a flimsey bannana. Sorry :-(
  • it's difficult to change friends' bad habits, especially when they are used to doing those things and nothing being said - it's time to let said friend only eat what you have left (accidentally poke them with your fork if necessary;)) - also try and make sure you have plenty of change when you are going out with them.

you will not be happy with me, but i have justed added up your spending for the last week from this thread (not including laptop) - it's £64.73 x
  • Oh my goodness. Thats squillions. I need to be more disciplined. Thank you so much for the 'shock' factor. I am trying hard... I just seem to spend when I have a bad day. Normally coffee or cigs. Agrh. Oh dear. Must cut back.
