Ooooh...the thread has gone a bit zingy. We need a drop of Rescue oil on it

OK, I rent in one place and own in another.
I love the rental location but the fact that I can't do anything to it at all drives me up the wall ...could be because we have renovated 2 places in the past from utterly uninhabitable to dream home....and started out, years back, in a council place filmed in Nil By Mouth....and yes, it was like that.
The rent is winding me up now as the mortgage on family home is less than CT for the time being. However, we couldn't even begin to afford a place on the street I live ....actually, my neighbours are such that the description ''Street'' would give them the hump....it's dead nice.
I have never lived anywhere like this before.
The house we own is large size, done up ~(by us over the years) and in a nice part of a not great area....with views to die for.
The house we rent is derelict, badly configured and all the original windows leak when a storm comes in off the sea. Oh, and I have given up hiding the illegal cats during those bluddy awful inpsections...the one where the 21yr old comes around with her clipboard........we are mates now
I think Heths boy did the right for thing for him at the time. When he has kids, maybe time to change as schools in that area are tricky, very tricky and if you can't deal with the trickiness of them, then it can be verrrrrry expensive.
We had neg equity from 1991 and didn't really cause us any massive issues..I would have turned into madwoman if we had stayed in LA highrise...we waited for prices to fall to our level of affordability and bought...I couldn't have waited until the bottom in 1996...but then we traded up and everything evened out.0 -
So much for a 'discussion' ... unless the definition of 'to discuss' is to cast aspersions on other ppl.
Where is Sockpuppets when we need him?
Oh well, another 'flag of convenience' to add to the ignore list.

Yes, that would be lovely - there are a few trendy coffee bars in the town now arent there
and another coming to the Arsenal I believe.
I went in the leisure centre to have a look. It is fab isnt it. They have like a "fun area" with waves and stuff one end dont they and then a kiddies pool and then the pool son uses which is for the more serious, "Ive got 25 lengths to do" swimmers. Very impressive. Didnt go in though but apparently there is a very good gym too. So handy for him as its literally just down the road. Thanks for the tip about the Greenwich Citizen card for discounts - he and the lodger have got one and they are very useful, even used in bars and restaurants in Greenwich area.
Just PM when you are down. Promise I am not an internet werewolf.;)0 -
Who is in the avatar of Chupov? I am not very up on celebrity faces, so assumed that was him in the pic...but I think I may be wrong.Dithering_Dad wrote: »Where is Sockpuppets when we need him?

Dam..must watch some telly and movies as I don't who is actor and who is real person.
BTW house123 wasn't a sockpuppet either.
Majority of people who post here are who they say they are.
The whole SP thingy is just a wierdy thing for a minority.
FWIW, I am only this log in. There is an emergency one as I got rumbled by a work connection recently.......who thought I was a bit odd, writing all this heavy stuff when I should have been hanging out on handbag.com promoting myself.0 -
Hethmar...PM me when you are next up as I live between two places now and have the odd weekend mini break in my own house.......we could grab a coffee or something for 5 mins?
I was round your stomping ground (the Brighton one) last week and had intended to drop you a PM and seek you out but I didn't remember until I was without internet. Its ages since I've been down there and I found it hugely inspirational... I must say the entire trip has kickstarted my motivation to start doing some more self-directed illustration work. I'll definitely remember to drop you a line next time I'm down - as you must next time you find yourself in the shire of Leics!0 -

It's that Spanish chap who used to be on adverts flogging housing complexes next to Spanish golf courses - they even had Jack Nicklaus on for a while, the catchphrase was something like "perhaps tomorrw, but better today" . The username seems to be a combination of "chucky" and "Topov", probably another ad44downey puppet to add to his napoleon, scousefife, fatpig, etc. sockies. He's probably still mourning his departed Topov puppet, who was PPV'd recently.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

You weren't clogging up the streets in a Mini by any chance...dam mini rally day.;)
The inspiration is still here...will be more soon as rents are dropping on some retail units at last....could be to do with some being abandoned
as greedier landlords were taking advantage. YKWIM?
Festival at the mo so busy everywhere.
Also, if you ever go to E1 area....see if I am around...usually am most weeks skulking. Another area that is buzzing and humming with individuality, creativity and, from that, people earning a modest living....that's why the person thought it odd I was hanging out here In Misery Land...as in Real Life Land no-one hears me scream.:o0 -
I must get some telly reception...I am so out of the loop on this stuff.Dithering_Dad wrote: »It's that Spanish chap who used to be on adverts flogging housing complexes next to Spanish golf courses - they even had Jack Nicklaus on for a while, the catchphrase was something like "perhaps tomorrw, but better today" .
