    P46 here;

    http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/p46.pdf

You should have been give your P60 by the end of May this year - did you not get it?

That p46 was not what i was given by my agency... all i was given to do was simply sign a sheet, maybe they should of done the rest?

I just checked and actually yeh i have found my p60 and it says on the bottom final tax code... BR

They should have given you an actual P46. What did the sheet say?

Anyway fill it out right away, tick Box A and hand it in to your employer. They should then apply code 603L on a cumulative basis (i.e. no Wk/Mth 1 after the code) and you should get a nice rebate of all your personal allowances since April

Now you can apply for your rebate from February - April 08 from HMRC.

Write to your local tax office (rather than fax) detailing that you have overpaid tax and wish to reclaim it. Include the P60 - photocopy this before you send the original. If you earned less than £5225 you will get all of the tax that you paid refunded.

If you are close to your local tax office you can hand it in personally. They will photocopy the P60 and give it back to you there and then.

Tax code for last year should have been 522L.

When were you on this tax code? Before or after April 08?

Are you still on the BR tax code?

I take it you have a second source of income such as a state pension or something which means you are on a BR?

You should get £10 more in your pay from October to March being £60 of the total £120 you mention.

As you're on basic rate your salary is not taxed on a cumulative basis and therefore you will not claw back the initial £60 as a refund like normal coded people have done.

If you fill in a tax return then you will get the £60 back via that, otherwise you will need to wait until 5 April and then write to the revenue to claim it back. If you do neither I assume you will get a refund eventually when they get round to looking at you case but that could take many months.

This post has answered my own tax query. I have NHS & state pensions and wrote to query why I did not get back £60. I did not really understand what HM Tax wrote but your post has made it clear to me. According to the tax office, I have to send them my P60 when I received it in April from Paymaster. They will then look into it for me, I thought I was going to get it like everybody!! Thanks

    Are you over 65?

If you are you are not due the rebate as over 65s already have a higher personal allowance.

If you are under 65 what was your tax code that is used for your NHS pension?
