I have never paid the extra 50p insurance (it is a fairly recent addition anyway), but I guess it would depend on how much you're spending and whether, should the item get lost in the post, you could live with the purchase on your card without the goods.

E-mails - I have received e-mails AFTER delivery of goods!

    Delivery times - Depends.
If the item is in stock goods, can be turned around within a week. If not in stock, then I have waited several months for a delivery.
Interestingly - recently I had a CD on order for several months. Cancelled it and got refund. Ordered it again, & this time paid via google checkout and used a voucher, item was delivered within two weeks! Now this is certainly NOT statistically significant, and it could be that the item that was on order previously finally arrived and was able to be dispatched in time for my second order, but I have now started to purchase items from cd-wow via google-checkout! YMMV

However, I have so-far not had any trouble cancelling an order and getting a refund, whichever payment method used.
Though, I no longer buy anything I need urgently from them, just in case there is a delay.

This is always the best course of action. Order the item, and if it's not arrived in a few weeks simply cancel the order and order it elsewhere.

You should always get a refund if you've ordered it and its not been dispatched

To be honest by the sounds of it I would rather pay a bit extra and save so much hassle

  • Another problem is that when you cancel an order they just credit your account but you can't use that credit when they've got a sale on. I've got gift vouchers and refund credits in my account but I can't use them at the moment because yet again they've got a promotion on!

CD Wow are a terrible company, they never have the stuff that I am looking for and even when they do it is always cheaper from somewhere else.

  • I personally have never had a problem with CDwow, infact i ordered a CD the other day and was surprised how quick it got here, however i think BangCD is cheaper than CDwow for most things. Just to say its not all bad.

How long do you think I should give it before I cancel my orders? its been a week and they are still awaiting dispatch in my account. I have checked play.com and the items are in stock there so wondering if to just cancel and order from play. cdwow don't state the stock levels on site do they but I guess they are in but they are really really slow delivering

Theres no contact phone number for cdwow though is there? unless theres an 0870 one which defeats the object of trying to save money if youve got to ring an expensive phone line to chase it up or cancel. Email will prob take a long time to get answered but as they are christmas presents I don't want to get them after christmas.
    Thanx

  • CD-Wow used to be awesome a couple of years back. Did it change hands after it was given that enormous fine, a while back?
Thanks to all who post constructively.
