You have to do a new install of windows with the 64- bit disk.
Put the disk in the drive and restart the pc. The windows installation process should start and you will see a rectangle with 2 partitions on it, the main one where windows is installed and also a recovery partition.
Under the rectangle there are other options. One of them has the format option. Click that and choose to format the large partition NOT the recovery partition. It formats really quickly, then choose the same patition that you have just formated, to install windows on.
That's it really. You'll have a couple of choices like, language and location but apart from that, it pretty much gets on with it itself. You dont even have to activate windows either, that's automatically done too.
So far I haven't had any incompatibility problems. (Touch wood, lol.)Herman - MP for all!0 -
When I install x64 I do get a window giving the option of installing x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64bit) as both versions are on the DVD (ultimate), I've only once installed the 32bit version of vista, an accident I discovered as soon as I tried installing the 64bit nvidia drivers..."computer says no.."...quickly rectified by a fresh installUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

I had a look at one of these yesterday, as my friend was having problems with getting sound working and also wanted me to configure Microsoft Mail for him.
I sorted these for him, but he asked me about the HDDrive2Go 'hole' at the top of the tower. He had previously purchased an HDDrive2Go drive to use on his old system. This new system has an additional connector. There is a label on the tower advising that he needs a MD85563 adapter.
For general info, this can be purchased from https://www.medionshop.co.uk/
o On left hand side, select PC -> Accessories -> Cables & Connectors
o Go down page and order HDDrive2Go Adaptor MD85563 (£7.79)
Hope this helps some people.:beer:0 -
Ok I am confused now, should I go 64 or not, what would you advise?
Do you think that all the software the PC came with, pre-installed (I think the enclosed disks contain the software to reinstall any problem program) will work on the new 64 bit version considering it was shipped with both types?
Will my AVG8 work with it do you know?
What would be my most likely problem going for 64 bit version?
Or am I not likely to have problems?0 -
