How do!
I don't have a great deal of experience with Yahoo messenger, but if you think it's that which is causing your popups, you might need to stop it from starting up. Here's how (hopefully):
Go to Start, Run and type:
msconfig <press enter key>
It should pop up with a dialog box with a selection of tabs. One of these will be 'startup'. From here you can see any programs which start when Windows does. If you see ones related to Yahoo, untick them (you can re-tick them if you need to - they're not deleted). Click OK (you might be asked to restart), see if this helps. If not, post back and I'll try again!

Hmm, while the pop-up has gone, I suspect that Yahoo Messenger was just the delivery mechanism!
I'd suspect that you've probably been hit by Spyware/Adware (this is especially likely if the pop-up relates to adult site or products you've never heard of)
I'd suggest you look at installing:
1. Spywareblaster (http://www.download.com/SpywareBlaster/3000-8022_4-10396039.html?tag=lst-0-1)
2. Ad-Aware SE
(http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10399602.html?tag=lst-0-1)
Don't mean to alarm you, but there has apparently been a virus released recently that targets Instant Messenger services like Yahoo's. It might be worthwhile using one of the online virus scanning services to see if you've been hit by it.
Try Trend Micro's Housecall service at: http://www.trendmicro.com/hc_intro/default.asp0 -
Well the yahoo thing has been sorted but the pop up has just re-appeared.
Will try the spyware stuff.....
Thanks guys!!!0 -
The re-appearance of the pop-up means you've definitely been hit by Spyware or something else.
Keep a close eye on the credit card bills and bank statements if you use these to buy online...especially if Trend Housecall highlights a virus.
The products should get rid of the PC infection, but post back if you hit any snags...0 -
Cheers bru.......

Hi,
Did you try running AdAware with System Restore Off?0 -
Don't click on any links (including "unsubscribe" or "remove" links) included in the pop-up and avoid responding to the E-Mail addresses it gives out.
All clever tricks used by the scammers to gather additional information...0
