The places I have lived, it would be impossible for a single person to get council/HA accommodation, unless they waited 20-30 years. It'd never occur to me to ever go on the lists because of that.

i wasnt on any lists, and only enquired about the property last week.

the city centre flat scene is so awash with flats, they are not even bothering with waiting lists!
  • You have a kitchen/living area like a lot of new build flats. So therefore it's a 2 bed with combined kitchen/living area. Like silvercar said, just because you want to use the 2nd bedroom as a living room doesn't mean that it then becomes a one bed flat.
"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."
  • I looked it up, 8 miles North East of your flat.

I am not used to people living "in" a town, or even "in" a city. I come from the countryside. I've never known anybody who lived "in" a town/city.

whats it called ? im thinking of moving or maybe buying a bit further out in a few years.

well if you live in a 2 bed house and want to sell it, whats to stop you moving your TV and sofa into the kitchen and now calling the new room a bedroom ? i think you would find if you described it as a 3 bed house, plenty of viewers would tell you that you are taking pi$$.

I did hear recently that towns have 2x the ratio of social housing compared to rural areas... but I never thought we'd find somewhere that had NO waiting list!

Where I've recently moved from, there are about 400 homes and over 4,000 (and rising) on the list.
  • Do housing associations have minimum space requirements for their homes? anyone know what they are? Intrigued now

rents are going to collapse in these places, my rent is £550 a pcm, the private sector value in my block is £750 pcm (some are in excess of 800 for the same property as mine)

You are correct. Rent values are going to crash.

Wages in some sectors have begun crashing as well, and it will get worse.

This will be an education to the BTL landlords. Deflation. Prices and wages fall. Reap the whirlwind landlords. Reap it.

heres another view of the living room/kitchen of the flat i am hoping to get.

as you can see, on the link i posted earlier, they had cleverly taken the pics of the kitchen area and living room separatly. what you dont see, but you can in this pic, is there is no kitchen area as such.
