Well then start dumping it all on his bed... Unwashed... and wet...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Bet he's had a couple of pay rises in that time. Think it's time you increased his keep. He's taking advantage of family ties and your good nature.0

Well carrying on from this, my friend is still failing to pay the rent on time, even though he is now earning approx £3200 a month
are you sure he's your friend - it sounds like he's taking advantage .
look around for the cost of other rooms to let , add on his share of food etc and then give him a figure that you're happy with , if he doesn't like it tell him to look elsewhere , i would have thought £100 per week isn't asking too much , it depends on how much of a friend you are to him0 -
Look at local room rents and compare with what you are charging.
If he is earning that much money, then he could afford his own place then you can remain friends before tempers start flaring IYSWIM.

He has quite a lot of debt, so think he is clearing his debts. He is always commenting how much money he is earning for a days work, really takes the pee0

really takes the pee
Because you're allowing him to.
You think he's paying his debts? Do you ever talk to each other? Whatever his debts, rent is a priority payment and you need to make this clear by being more assertive and actually charging him a decent amount so it's more of a formal arrangement rather than letting him walk all over you because he clearly is.0 -
Barny1979 £200 is cheap for Chelsea, but expensive if it is in the middle of no where and has an outside drop toilet.
Can you live without his £200 per month - if not, tell him to buck himself up. If £200 is less important than privacy, the tell him it is not working and that he should start looking around!GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.

Well I've texted him last night as he was at his gf's, saying that as he is financially better off now, that I'd like to increase the rent to nearer the going rate, which is £350 inc bills from 1st April. Not heard back from him0

Why wait until April?
You, I'm afraid, are being treated as a mug. Friend or not, he should pay you the rent on time and help keep the house clean. You shouldn't have to put up with being taken for granted because of his problems.0 -
Spoke to him on Weds asking if he'd paid Jan and Febs rent, said he'd pay half of it there and then and the rest this coming tuesday, no cash in my account, texted him to ask if he'd transferred it, nope, he hasn't!0
