1 meg was what I meant to say.0

1 meg isn't great, but you shouldn't be getting speeds below 100KB. You need to raise the issue with 3.Dave. :wave:0

Thank you - but should I still try to download Open Office - I am not sure why it appears that it would take 9 hours! I will try again..0 -
I'm on a similar speed (1 meg) and at 90kbs I can download Open Office in about 20-25 minutes. Your speed to get a 9 hour download is similar to dial up rather than broadband.
It's on a lot of PC magazine cover disks so if it doesn't improve that's a possible option.0 -
I would apply for that refund on your money, open office is free, and open source0

That's interesting. I will contact 3 as I may have set the wireless up incorrectly.
Many thanks0 -

Thank you all so much I am slowly getting there.. Phantom and grahawk; I took your advice and contacted 3 - it does seem to be defaulting onto dial-up rather than broadband and they have asked me to check it on another pc, as the dongle may be at fault so they will replace it if so.
I bought PC Advisor mag with Open office and have now installed it. Hopefully one last question - I have a Word doc which has been emailed to me that I need to edit. I have no MS Word on my pic; is there a way that I can copy the info or transfer it somehow into an Open Office doc? I cannot save it onto my pc so not sure how to convert is so that I can edit it in Open office; can't find any help on the disk, would I find this kind of info somewhere? Otherwise Open Office seems fine for my use when starting new docs; some of them i will be emailing for use at work however so I guess I need Open Office installed on my work pc? Sorry for so many questions.0 -
Why can't you save the Word document to your PC? What e-mail client has the file arrived in?
Just install OpenOffice at work if you don't have MSWord on the PC already.Dave. :wave:0 -
Thanks for listening again! i sent it via my Yahoo mail. Is that what you are asking? I can't save it because I can only view Word docs on my pc, as Word is not installed.0
