I agree but when the real bargains are online there is no cost to bid/buy. I would never pay there phone call costs in the vain hope of fastest finger first.0

me.. if you aren't completely stupid you would have had 0904 251 0 in your phone ready to press the last 3 numbers.
that said.. I didn't get one!
Thats what i did have most of the number in and rest when it came on air tried twice and never even got through phone went dead, for sure a scam, just a ploy to get more viewers, and did you not notice they kept you guessing till the end of each hour when finally they went up,just hoping they get you hooked into buying stuff from them before then, come on did any of us on here really get one,i think not,a scam and one that should be looked at from those who are in charge of these companies/tv etc, come on there postage costs are way over the top anyway with normal items, whos to know there auctions everyday are not rigged a little.
If you do get something on this channel then normally its cheap and crap and not worth anymore anyway.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
I also though this was a scam until I manged to get one last time around :j I had dialled in the first 2 parts of the phone number and then was just quick when the number was displayed. Guess I am one of the really lucky ones. It may be a gamble but they do have the tvs.0

!!!!!!!! you never got any 15inch lcd for a £1 come on now your having a laugh i bet you work for bid tv lol ........ i no theres a credit crunch but come on .......
I did :j:j:j:j:j:j. I happened to be online at about 2 in the morning, saw the thread, had no expectations of getting it, but thought for a tenner (£8.99 postage) I would risk it. It arrived about 3 or 4 days later. I had never been on the website before, or watched the channel except when my kids accidentally landed on it hopping for kids channels.
It's now stuck in front of my crosstrainer & bouncer, so that I'm not completely bored when I do some exercise!:rotfl:
I did it online as well, no need for a phone call. For a few days afterwards, I was a bit addicted to the website and the channel to see if I could get another bargain, but have settled back to normal now. I do look at the grabbit threads a bit more often though...0 -
I really believe that the £99 TV was a scam. There were 5 of us last night with phones at the ready, didn't even have chance to connect before the TVs had gone. Wonder if this can be investigated by trading standards or whoever look into a fraud such as this?ARGH
I absolutely hate Price-drop.tv
There is no way that anyone rings the number that fast, 60 gone within 5 seconds. It's an elaborate scam to get people to watch their channel during the evening in the run up to Christmas.
A total waste of my Saturday night, I hope the channel crashes and burns in the credit crunch, this will not increase future revenue, but deter potential customers.:mad::mad:0 -
Wake Up!!!I really believe that the £99 TV was a scam. There were 5 of us last night with phones at the ready, didn't even have chance to connect before the TVs had gone. Wonder if this can be investigated by trading standards or whoever look into a fraud such as this?
Jesus... it was NOT a scam.. just a lottery!0 -
The company thats runs these 3 channels turns over tens of millions of pounds - do you really think they'd risk a fraud investigation for the sake of selling a few TVs off cheap? The loss they made on them is a fraction of a fration of a percentage of their profits... and given how many millions they probably sped with Sony over a year, it wouldn't surprise me if Sony chucked them in as a freebie on a few container loads of stock they bought... plus Sony got tens of thousands of pounds worth of coverage for their products on TV and 3 national papers yesterday, think about it guys...
All the tv channel is doing is playing to peoples greed and using it as a brillant advertising gimic - see it for what it is, and congratulate them on their genius... no one is forcing you to phone in, after all.
Placing the pre-bids online seems like a much better idea to me, you can place very low bids with a cool head on a number of items, allowing for postage etc... and if the price falls as low (or lower) than your bid, then you get yourself something at a price you are happy with without all the stress of the phonecall rush... and YES I know they don't do the £99 tellys on pre-bid, but as others have pointed out they do do the occasional £1 bargain (which I doubt is actually a mistake, again more likely a calculated publicity stunt if you want to call it that) - certainly made hundreds of people on here take a look at their website didn't it?
Oh, and no I don't work for them, or virgin media, or anyone else come to that! - Mind you, I kinda wish I could afford to buy some shares in the company, they seem to be doing well
In the probably unlikely event that I actually post something of use to someone, an ickle vote of thanks would be much appreciated, in fact I might frame it and put it up on the wall next to my cycling proficiency certificate

I wonder what delivery service will give you the lowest latency broadcast for the channel.
Satellite, digital terrestrial or online?
Incidentally, I still think it's a stupid way of buying things - The business model is pitching customers against one-another for the benefit of the retailer.
As this site is supposed to be about getting the best deal for customers (at the expense of the retailers), the correct money saving advice is to prevent as many people as possible from calling.
The fewer callers, the better the odds for those who do call - and the lower the profits for the retailer!0 -

Definitely not online
Looks as if there is a difference between satellite and freeview, and satellite seems to be a fraction faster than freeview. Maybe just enough to allow satellite viewers to get the numbers first.0
