Have just bought some Goldfish Brand concentrate at Tescos in their oriental section. It's £1.25 a tub. Am making curry tonight so hope its as good as you say !:j
Wow its not onlineMust be something they are trying out ??
Good luck with the curry, ours was really good.A male chef of 4. My restaurant is always full and i don't need to tout for business.
OK OK I'm a house husband but it did sound better my way :beer:0 -
We got to know our local chinease takeaway well.
When speaking to them they mostly use Mayson Which comes as either granuals or better as a block you desolve.
We tried it and it is the stuff 100%. Asda do a local products island and it's now on there in the north east. I've searched ebay and it's there aswell.
As for the fried rice the trick is not to use fresh rice. At a takeaway they use tonights boiled rice as fried tomorrow. They let it go stale (hard) and this absorbs the frying much better without going stodgy.Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0 -

Hi PP
Many thanks, wonder why I couldn't find it under the search function
Within the link, there seems to be only 1 recipe for chinese curry, however, there was a mention for Wingyip.com, never thought about them, I'll take a look on there.

This is the recipe we use in our house, tastes very like the chinese take away ones:
Ingredients
•2 tbs. oil •3 cloves garlic, chopped •1 inch piece ginger, peeled and chopped/pureed or thinly sliced •2 tbs. plain flour •2 tsp. curry powder (Madras or similar from Chinese grocers) •1/2 tsp. salt, adjust to taste •1/2 -1 tsp. chilli powder (depends upon how hot your curry powder is) •1 tsp. sweet paprika powder (I use normal paprika powder)
Instructions
1.Mix curry powder and flour in a bowl and keep aside. 2.Heat oil. 3.Add ginger and garlic and stir fry for 1-2 minutes. 4.Add flour and curry powder mix and allow it to bubble. 5.Add salt, paprika and chilli powder. Stir. 6.Add enough water, a little at a time, to get sauce consistency. Bring to boil and simmer briskly for a few minutes. Turn the heat off. This is the basic curry sauce like the ‘take-away, shops and people generally buy it with chips/French fries, as a dipping sauce. 7.You can also use it to make take-away style curries. When you are ready to cook a curry, like chicken, prawns, pork or boiled potatoes etc., heat 1 tbs. oil in a wok, stir-fry the chicken/prawns/meat/potatoes and add the curry paste. Continue to stir-fry for a few minutes. Add a little water, if you want more gravy. 8.Serve hot, with rice or noodles.
Cheapest place to buy all the spices is Lidl or Aldi.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
