I've got a curry recipe book which tells you how to make Indian curries just like the restaurant ones and they really work

The Curry Secret (Indian restaurant cookery at Home) by Kris Dhillon published by Elliot Right Way Books

that's a great book, but making the base recipe for the sauce with all that ginger, garlic and onion leaves you with a very stinky house for a few days!
  • Me and my family are keen on Chinese curry meals and since switching to Mai Mai Authentic Chinese Curry Powder (Yellow foil packets, 230g), we have never switched.:j

The taste is so so gorgeous, that we have this at least twice a week, and you can mix anything onto there to suit whatever you have in the fridge into a great chinese curry.

I can't see these in the supermarkets, but you can get these at local conveninence stores within the west midlands.

They only cost 99p for 8-10 servings and i'm sure once you've tasted this, you wont' want to switch brands

i think their website is www.maimai.co.uk

hi, if you go to morrisons, go to their butchers dept and on top of the glass cabinet where they keep the meat there is a packet of sauce called " youngs chinese curry sauce" all you do is cook the chicken, make the sauce in a pot with water, add onion and chicken then simmer for about ten mins. It tastes exactly like chinese take away curry. Let me know if you get it and what you think of it.:D

There is this recipe in the OLD STYLE index, not a curry but a very nice chinese chicken recipe.

Rikki, What problems are you having with the recipe thread? It seems to be working ok for me today after the site was updated last night.

  • I buy Curry Sauce Concentrate from the chinese supermarket it is £1.40 a tub & lasts ages, just put in the fridge after opening - really really easy to make & tastes very authentic.
The make is Goldfish Brand they do about 3 types i get chinese hot & spicy 405g, tub is round & about 2 inches high, gold lid.

You just add 1 part concentrate to 3-4 parts water disolve bring to the boil, simmer for 2 minutes.
I usually just stir fry some mushrooms big chunks of onion & some frozen peas ( sometimes chicken if flush! ) add a dollop of concentrate add some water mix it all up & yum yum
I stumbled on this by accident years ago & have told loads of friends they think it's great too! So not just me.
Hope this helps, this saves me loads of money when on store cupboard challenge, if I make too much I just heat it up in the microwave next day no problems.
Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

Married my best friend 15/4/16 :)
