Realtime chatroom

How about a real chatroom where MSE's can chat to each other realtime?

Would be a nicer way of creating a MSE community

It would be a fantastic idea, but would be hard to "police" (for not finding a better word) It would be a lot better than having to use msn, but saying that it would be harder to browse the other boards inbetween posts

Shouldn't be too hard to police there are forum moderators - you can always create chat room moderators. Its ok watching the forums but to be able to have realtime discussions with other MSEs would appeal much more to me - between everyone multiple boards can be watched and discussed realtime.

I went to post a poll about this, but it didnt work out. Cant get an option to ask the question even though it left me with a box for number if solutions to a question.

There's plenty of Police about on here to do some of the work load. I am sure some well respected members would help out. Cant be hard to make as plenty of sites uses java for there chat room.s

Resources?? I shouldn't imagine it will take too many resources to make it happen - There are a lot off free chatroom programs/code that can be used. I'm sure if people asked about there would be somone willing to host it if the current hosting provider didn't want chatrooms

Trafalgar said "we already have one ,in fact I think there is two and then there is msn as well" and Racyred suggested "I found a way of setting up a multi user web chat is anyone is interested I will send them instructions on how to do it, 'fraid I won't have time to get involved myself for a bit".

I can understand the resource problems and I am sure people will help out. I try and do some unoffical moderating, ie report posts to help teh site run smoothly and I no other suers help out. I no the site can be very time consuming and expensive for Martin.

thanks Poppycat - I saw the replies on the other board that you linked to earlier - hoping to get some details through a PM - Although I still think that one incorporated into the site would be nice for newbies etc

I think this would be less daunting than the one mentioned in the MSE Arms. I am not a newbie but have only made a couple of visits to the Arms and am not yet comfortable there. I can imagine a lot of newbies would not wish to join in something that was associated with this area of MSE. No intention of causing offence, it is just I find all the colourful characters visiting the Arms a bit overwhelming.
